Nothing about this recipe says New Year’s resolution, and if truth be told my plans to start a diet the first of the year never came to fruition.

A recipe for delicious cinnamon dusted apple cider doughnuts with a sugar glaze.

It has been chilly outside, by Florida’s standards, and I have been feeling a bit out of sorts these last few weeks. Comfort food is what I want right now, and these Apple Cider Doughnuts certainly fit the bill. Nom. Nom. Nom.

I’m trying to not feel too terribly guilty about this doughnut recipe. These doughnuts are baked, not fried, after all. That’s totally a step in the right direction.

Baked doughnuts are incredibly simple to make, and are much healthier than the fried variety. Although, I do love a good fried doughnut every now and again.

I have shared a couple of doughnut recipes on this blog in the past, if you’d like to check them out. These Old Fashioned Baked Chocolate Doughnuts with Chocolate Glaze are oh-so delicious, and these Baked Pumpkin Pecan Doughnuts with Maple Glaze are simply wonderful. It was definitely time for me to pull out my doughnut pan again.

Ingredients:

  • 1½ Cups flour
  • ½ Cup apple cider
  • ½ Cup brown sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 Tbsps butter
  • 1 Tsp baking soda
  • 1 Tsp nutmeg
  • 1 Tsp allspice
  • 1 Tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ Tsp ground cloves
  • Sugar glaze

Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350F.

Step 2: Grease a doughnut baking pan.

Step 3: In a mixer combine the flour, apple cider, brown sugar, egg, butter, baking soda, nutmeg, allspice, vanilla, ground cloves, and 1 tbsp cinnamon.

Step 4: Mix until getting a thick batter.

Step 5: Fill the doughnut pan with the batter.

Step 6: Bake the doughnuts for about 15 minutes or until golden.

Step 7: Take the pan and set aside to cool down.

Step 8: When cool, remove the donuts with a rubber spatula.

Step 9: Cover them with the glaze and sprinkle the remaining cinnamon.

Step 10: Serve and enjoy.

Tip: If you’re a chocolate lover, try substituting chocolate syrup for the glaze.
