The last few days I have begun making goodies for our upcoming Halloween party. I must admit that I was considering making some cake pops this afternoon, but decided that I wanted something that required minimal effort. Candy Corn Marshmallow Pops turned out to be just the thing.

They were pretty simple to make and turned out sooo stinkin’ cute… If I might say so myself!

Yesterday I dropped a small fortune at Michael’s. While I was there I picked up some orange and yellow Wilton Candy Melts, amongst a lot of other stuff that I just knew I would find a purpose for. You know…it was one of those trips where I went into the store totally unprepared, no list in hand, and walked out with anything and everything I could possible need for Halloween.

Now the true test…

Time to figure out what I am going to do with all of this stuff. I think I’m off to a pretty good start with these Candy Corn Marshmallow Pops. We’ll be serving them at a Halloween party, but they would be the perfect treat to hand out to your child’s classmates.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of marshmallows
  • 1 bag yellow Wilton Candy Melts
  • 1 bag orange Wilton Candy Melts
  • 2 – 3 tablespoons shortening (optional – to thin candy melts)
  • lollipop sticks (50 count bag should do)
  • clear plastic treat bags
  • ribbon

Instructions:

Step 1: Poke a lollipop stick into the bottom of each marshmallow.

Step 2: Melt orange candy melts along with 1 – 2 tablespoons of shortening. Dip each marshmallow 2/3 of the way up into the orange. Place each pop onto a parchment lined cookie sheet and cool in refrigerator for about 20 minutes, or until hardened.

Step 3: Melt 1/2 bag of yellow candy melts, along with 1 tablespoon shortening. Dip each pop into the yellow, about 1/3 way up. Place onto parchment lined cookie sheet and allow to cool completely in refrigerator.

Step 4: Once the marshmallow pops are completely hardened, either serve on a platter or wrap individually with clear plastic treat bags and ribbon.

Step 5: Serve, enjoy and impress your friends!

These are really cute! What is your trick for getting the melts to melt smoothly? Mine always turn out to be a grainy mess!

Thanks Sarah! I find that adding a little bit of shortening to the melts helps to smooth it out.

Love the marshmallow pops idea. Candy corn makes me nostalgic and marshmallows blended together sounds like the perfect blend of smushy and sweet. One of my very favorite candies is a “pop” made of marshmallow and caramel and this sounds a lot like that.
Great fun for Halloween for sure.
