My family loves cherry. It has become a go to flavor. It is a great flavor that I can add to just about anything.

We often add cherry flavor to our desserts. When I add it to my favorite sugar cookies, the cookies start flying off the plate. I can hardly make enough of them. That is why I have to sneak my cookie eating in before anyone knows that they are ready. That way, I know that I will get some before the family has eaten them all. These cookies also work great to take to a party or picnic, or great to have on hand for when you are expecting guests. They will think you make the best cookies, ever!

These cookies use your favorite cookie recipe and then are topped with cherry flavored icing. They are then decorated with a cute cherry on top.

Ingredients:

  • Start by baking your favorite sugar cookie recipe.
  • Roll the cookies into a log and cut them into 3″ circle. Let them cook to the touch.
  • If you do not have a favorite cookie recipe, use the bags like, Betty Crocker sugar cookies.

Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon LorAnn Gourmet Cherry Flavoring
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 Tablespoons milk (if desired)
  • Haribo Twin Cherries – 1 bag had 12 gummies, just be mindful how many you’ll need when you purchase them. It depends on the cookies.

Instructions:

Step 1: Beat butter and cherry flavor. Add powdered sugar, one cup at a time and beat until smooth. Add milk if you’d like a thinner consistency. Frost cookies and top with cherry gummy.

Wow this is really different, and I adore cherries. I never heard of cherry flavoring before, I must look for it, and these candies, too.
