It’s almost unimaginable to thing that children are going to bed hungry in our society. In fact, nearly 16 million children, enough to fill 8,000 playgrounds are going hungry and being robbed of the promise of childhood. Children who experience even intermittent struggles with hunger may suffer serious, long-term consequences to their health, well-being and educational achievement. In communities like mine there are food banks, school lunch and backpack programs, and summer food programs. But it’s still not enough and some children fall through the cracks or the need is simply just too great for the programs in place.
My heart breaks just thinking about this and I’m sure yours does too. Can you imagine if it were your child who is a one in five statistic? We need to join forces and support efforts to end child hunger. I have partnered with ConAgra, P&G and The Motherhood for this sponsored post to help spread the word about the Child Hunger Ends Here Campaign.
ConAgra has teamed up with P&G to bring awareness to child hunger through the Child Hunger Ends Here Campaign. They are working to build a community of people, like you and me, who will work together to make a difference and donate 7 million meals through the Child Hunger Ends Here Campaign. Yes, that’s a lofty goal, but when we work together, great things can happen.
It’s simple to make a difference! When you are at the grocery store, look for the red pushpin and locate the code found on specially marked ConAgra Foods and P&G products. For each 8-digit code entered at www.ChildHungerEndsHere.com from March-August 2014, ConAgra Foods or P&G, respectively, will donate the monetary equivalent of one meal to Feeding America. You can even enter your 8-digit codes via the widget on the right sidebar of this blog.
All codes entered through August 2014 will help feed a hungry child.
Do you remember last month when Hunter Hayes and his tour sponsor ConAgra Foods teamed up for the Hunter Hayes Road Race? The record breaking goal was to break the record for the for performing in the most cities in a 24 hour period and to donate the most meals ever in 24 hours. Do you want to know how Hunter Hayes did it? You have a chance to ask him just that and more!
Child Hunger Ends Here is giving you the exciting opportunity to “Ask Hunter” a question – and he may answer it personally. Just enter a code at www.ChildHungerEndsHere.com for the chance to ask Hunter Hayes a question. Each month through August 2014, Hunter will personally answer one question (using the winner’s name) and post the video to the Child Hunger Ends Here Facebook Page.
Children should never have to experience the pain associated with hunger. Will you join me and all the others who have stepped up by taking a few moments of your time to enter codes from participating P&G products? That simple act will trigger a donation for a hungry child.
Are you currently doing anything in your community to help end child hunger?
I think it’s awesome when stars donate their time for great causes like this!
Brett Michaels who was born and raised a town over from us does a lot of community work to raise money locally. I think it is a super great idea.
It is really good when people help others, especially people who are celebs and have plenty of money to help out.
A GREAT incentive to purchase products for a worthy cause. It’s so easy to help!
What a wonderful thing to do! I always donate time and money to end children suffering in its many forms.
I’m going to have to start looking more closely for the codes. I am a big fan of causes such as this. There’s no reason any child should have to go hungry!
That’s great that Hunter Hayes joined in. We donate food to a local food pantry.
This is a great campaign! It allows everyone to contribute at least a little something. Great idea!
This is a great campaign for a great cause. Every little bit helps. And who knew this was an issue in our country!
This is such a wonderful campaign. Sometimes I forget how lucky we are that we have what we do!
