Give last year's flip flops a new look with these simple diy flip flop makeover projects!

I am not one to run out and buy new clothes or shoes just because it is a new year. I like to get the most out of something and use it until it can be used no more. That doesn’t mean I don’t want new shoes. I just can’t see buying new ones, when I can give them a new look. These DIY flip flop makeover projects are a perfect example. It’s so easy to take last year’s flops and make them look fresh and new. Totally unique too!

Using scrap fabric, ribbon and a few other items I’ve been able to completely transform old flip flops or ones found in the dollar bin. I’ve rounded up a few of our own DIY fip flop makeovers from About a Mom, and some others that I think are really great.

Anyone who does crafts usually has some left over ribbon from one project or another. These festive DIY Ribbon Flip Flops sport a patriotic theme, but you can use whatever color ribbons you like. Even if you need to buy some ribbon, this look can easily be achieved for less than $5.

DIY Water Balloon Flip Flops Craft

I have seen these cute water balloon flip flops on the web for the longest time, so a few years ago mom and I decided to make some of our own. Such a great way to put those leftover water balloons to use, and kids will love these fun flip flops!

If ribbons or water balloons are not quite what you are looking for, and you want a little more of a grown up look, these DIY fabric flip flops are the way to go. These will look like you spent a lot on them, but using scrap fabric you can make these designer-look flip flops in under 30 minutes. The knotted design is so chic.

Seriously. These fabric flip flops couldn’t be any simpler to make. Using no glue and no-sewing, these flip flops come together quickly, in as little as 15 minutes. I just love these flip flops!
