Each holiday season my family likes to make a new homemade ornament. This year we made Minion ornaments to celebrate Despicable Me 3 Special Edition which is now available on Blu-ray & DVD. These DIY Minion Ornaments were a lot of fun and inexpensive to make.
Despicable Me 3 is sure to be at the top of a lot of holiday wish lists this year. The fun limited time gift set shown below is available exclusively at Walmart. Tati was over-the-moon excited to get this!
We saw Despicable Me 3 it in the theater and laughed so much. It’s another exciting adventure featuring the characters we’ve all grown to love – Gru, his wife Lucy, their three adorable daughters—Margo, Edith and Agnes — and (of course) the Minions. I love a movie that the whole family can enjoy, plus who can resist the Minions!
With an all-new Mini Movie, Minion Moments and more, I think the Despicable Me 3 Special Edition on Blu-ray or DVD is the ultimate holiday gift for the whole family. The Walmart exclusive limited time gift is awesome. It includes a super soft, PLUSH Minion backpack, along with the Despicable Me 3 Special Edition Blu-ray/DVD + Digital Combo. So much fun!
If your children enjoyed Despicable Me 3, they are sure to have fun making these Minion Christmas tree ornaments. My 9-year old really enjoyed this activity.
DIY Minion Ornaments
Supplies you’ll need:
clear plastic ball ornament
yellow acrylic craft paint
black ribbon (1/4 inch wide)
large wiggle eyes
silver pipe cleaner or silver tinsel ribbon
clear drying craft glue or hot glue gun
black paint pen or Sharpie
Directions for Minion Ornament:
Remove cap from ornament, drizzle a couple teaspoons of yellow paint inside ornament and shake it vigorously, covering the opening with a napkin to keep it in. Add more paint if needed to completely coat the inside.
Place upside down in a small paper cup to allow extra paint to drip out. Allow to dry several hours or overnight.
Cut a length of black ribbon, long enough to go around the ornament. Using glue, secure the ribbon around the middle of the ornament.
Glue one or two wiggle eyes onto the ribbon.
Use the black paint pen or Sharpie to give the Minion a mouth and hair.
You’re finished!
In case you didn’t catch Despicable Me 3 in the theater, the film continues the adventures of Gru and his family in Despicable Me 3. After he is fired from the Anti-Villain League for failing to take down Balthazar Bratt, the latest evil mastermind to threaten humanity, Gru finds himself in the midst of a major identity crisis. But when a mysterious stranger shows up to inform Gru that he has a long-lost twin brother — a brother who desperately wishes to follow in his twin’s despicable footsteps — the former super-villain rediscovers just how good it feels to be bad. Gru’s brother Dru was an absolute hoot. I hope we see more from him in future Despicable Me movies.
I think Despicable Me 3 Special Edition is the perfect as a family gift or for that special child on your list.
Who would you pick the Despicable Me 3 Special Edition up for?
