Each holiday season my family likes to make a new homemade ornament. This year we made Minion ornaments to celebrate Despicable Me 3 Special Edition which is now available on Blu-ray & DVD. These DIY Minion Ornaments were a lot of fun and inexpensive to make.

We saw Despicable Me 3 in the theater and laughed so much. It’s another exciting adventure featuring the characters we’ve all grown to love – Gru, his wife Lucy, their three adorable daughters—Margo, Edith and Agnes — and (of course) the Minions. I love a movie that the whole family can enjoy, plus who can resist the Minions!

If your children enjoyed Despicable Me 3, they are sure to have fun making these Minion Christmas tree ornaments. My 9-year old really enjoyed this activity.

DIY Minion Ornaments

Supplies you’ll need:

clear plastic ball ornament
yellow acrylic craft paint
black ribbon (1/4 inch wide)
large wiggle eyes
silver pipe cleaner or silver tinsel ribbon
clear drying craft glue or hot glue gun
black paint pen or Sharpie

Directions for Minion Ornament:

Remove cap from ornament, drizzle a couple teaspoons of yellow paint inside ornament and shake it vigorously, covering the opening with a napkin to keep it in. Add more paint if needed to completely coat the inside.

Place upside down in a small paper cup to allow extra paint to drip out. Allow to dry several hours or overnight.

Cut a length of black ribbon, long enough to go around the ornament. Using glue, secure the ribbon around the middle of the ornament.

Glue one or two wiggle eyes onto the ribbon.

Use the black paint pen or Sharpie to give the Minion a mouth and hair.

You’re finished!

Plastic ball ornaments are used to make these DIY Minion ornaments that are a whole lot of fun and pretty easy to make. A Minion ornament that's perfect for Despicable Me fans young and old alike.
