DIY Pumpkin Patch Floor Game

Guest AuthorBy Guest Author

This DIY pumpkin patch floor game is easy to assemble and will keep your kids busy for hours. It's loads of fun!

Some of my favorite memories with my little ones is visiting our local pumpkin patch in the fall.  We enjoy the hay ride, yummy food, corn maze and of course…picking our pumpkins from the pumpkin patch!

Those memories are the inspiration for this  DIY Pumpkin Patch Floor Game!  What I like most about this activity is it only requires scissors and tape to assemble.  I very much enjoyed coming up with different variations of playing this activity.  I think your children are going to have a blast with this unique DIY floor game!

Step #1

Create your game board by making an over-sized square on the floor using tape.  Tip: Use a rug to trace the outline of your game board.

Step #2

Using the tape, make a grid design to create the rows in your pumpkin patch.

Step #3

Gather small pumpkin pieces and Halloween character pieces.  Tip: I used foam pumpkins and Halloween character cards that I found at the dollar store.  We scattered the pumpkins out on our game board to create our pumpkin patch.  Be sure to keep the pumpkins inside the rows and not touching the lines.

Step #4

Place the Halloween character pieces on the lines of the game board.

How to Play:

The object of this game is to collect all the pumpkins from the pumpkin patch while walking on the lines.  If the player loses his/her balance and falls off the path OR if he/she steps on the Halloween character cards then the game starts over (player must step over the Halloween character cards). Game play variation: set a timer and see how many pumpkins you can collect in 30 seconds.

We had a blast playing this game!  Each of my kids took turns and then used a timer to see who could complete the course the fastest.  They then decided to create their own game rules.  What other ways can you think of to use this DIY Pumpkin Patch Floor Game?
