I’m feeling a bit nostalgic as I think about the many blessings my family has had in 2014. But where has the time gone? My Mom was telling me yesterday that the time seems to fly by even quicker the older you get. I can’t imagine the days and months of the year passing by an faster than they already do. As I reflect on this past year, I am getting excited about all of the many wonderful things that are sure to come in 2015. On that note… It’s time to celebrate!

To celebrate New Year’s Eve, my nieces (who are growing up much too quickly) are cooking a special dinner for the whole family this evening. I’m looking forward to ushering in the new year with good food and the people I love.

If you are looking for a fun New Year’s Eve craft activity for the family, make these diy push up confetti poppers. This is a great craft to let you reuse old cardboard tubes from your wrapping paper.

Directions:
Cut wrapping paper tubes to size, about six inches. Wrap toilet paper tubes in colorful wrapping paper, cut to size and fastened with tape or glue.

Use the tube to trace out circles onto thin cardboard which will be the push up part of the popper. Cut out circles and make sure they are able to easily slide into the toilet paper tube. Use your Xacto knife to cut out a small X in the center, this is where your straw will slide through.

Slide the top portion of a straw through the X you created in circle pusher disc.

Use the scissors to cut down the top of the straw so that you can flatten each side back. Tape the straw portions to the disc. This will give you the pushup mechanism for your confetti popper.

DIY Push Up Confetti Poppers Tutorial

Place the circle disc and straw into the bottom of your wrapped tube. Fill the tube with as much confetti as possible.

DIY Push Up Confetti Poppers Tutorial

Trace out a large circle in matching or coordinating wrapping paper, and use the Xacto knife to create an X opening in the center for your confetti. Tape the circle of wrapping paper over the top of the tube, closing the push-up popper.

When the clock strikes midnight, push the straw into the tube and confetti will fly out of the X opening on the other end of the confetti push-up popper!

These look easy and they also look fun. I akso like how they would be a great way t utilize old ribbon from Christmas (now you can save ribbons and reuse them) This is nice for New Years or birthdays or any occasion!

That is a really good idea. I would try it some day. Now that made me hungry, now I want the push poppers that have ice cream. I think they are from the Flintstones.
