Birthdays are so much fun. I have always loved planning birthday parties for my son. It’s always so nice to see kids having a great time.

Make Your Own Festive Party Tortilla Chips

I especially like it when guests, young and old, get excited about the party snacks I have prepared. Since I love making unique snacks and treats for the kids everyday, you can imagine how much fun I could have coming up with fun snacks to have for a birthday party. Making homemade tortilla chips is simple and they make a great afternoon or evening snack. They can easily be taken up a notch by adding different flavors to them or even made extra special for a birthday party.

Everyone loves these party shaped homemade tortilla chips. These homemade tortilla chips are easy to change up for different occasions simply by changing the cookie cutters that you use and the food coloring. Use flower shaped cookie cutters to celebrate Spring or Summer. For Christmas, use Christmas trees or Jingle Bells. These can even be used to teach ABC by using letter cutouts.

Ingredients:

  • Uncooked corn tortillas (found in the dairy section)
  • Pink, blue, and green food coloring
  • Butter cooking spray
  • Sea salt

You will also need:

  • Parchment paper
  • Baking sheet
  • Cupcake & ice cream cone cookie cutters

Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
Step 2: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
Step 3: Place your corn tortillas onto your parchment paper
Step 4: Use a cookie cutter to cut out your shapes, toss the scraps away

Step 5: Mix each food coloring with a tablespoon of water
Step 6: Using a piece of paper towel, dip it into your food coloring and water mix and rub it into the top of your shapes. If you have a new kids paint brush, you can use that too. It takes longer but the kids can have fun painting with the different colors.

Step 7: Cook your chips for 6-7 minutes on each side
Step 8: Spray with a little butter cooking spray and sprinkle a little salt on top
Step 9: Cook for another couple minutes
Step 10: Serve with a little salsa and enjoy!
