Did you know that families spend four times the amount of time together on Saturdays and Sundays than on weekdays? That time together as a family on the weekends is so precious. Trips to the park, playing games, swimming, and backyard parties are all a big part of my family’s weekends. The weekend is also the perfect opportunity to make family mealtime more special. I partnered with Hershey’s Syrup to share an idea that will sweeten family togetherness on Sundays this summer. Since we spend most weekends grilling out, I decided to treat my family to some Grilled Fruit Sundaes.
I love a grilled fruit dessert. How about you?
Grilled Peach and Caramel Sundaes
First up was a grilled peach and caramel sundae with a pinch of sea salt. Caramel flavored Hershey’s Syrup is one of my favorite things to put on ice cream. A dash of sea salt puts it over the top!
Tip: Make sure the fruit has cooled some to prevent meltage.
Is meltage even a word? It is today!
When grilling peaches make sure to brush enough oil onto the grill. Learn from my mistakes. That was a lot of scrubbing afterwards, but it was so worth the effort. The grilled peach sundaes were amazing.
Double Strawberry Sundaes
To make these double strawberry sundaes, I grilled skewers of strawberries. Grilled strawberries are oh-so wonderful! I had no idea.
To make these, I topped the ice cream and strawberries with whipped cream and Strawberry flavored Hershey’s Syrup.
Tip: When using wooden skewers, be sure to soak them in water for about 30 minutes first to prevent burning.
Melon is also quite nice when grilled.
Grilled Pineapple and Chocolate Sundaes
Grilled pineapple and chocolate were meant to be eaten together.
For this sundae I used Chocolate and Special Dark Chocolate flavors of Hershey’s Syrup. Whichever you use, is a matter of preference. If you’re like me though, you’ll use both!
Rich and smooth Hershey’s Syrup is delicious on ice cream or frozen yogurt treats, mixed in milk or used in recipes. Hershey’s Syrup is available in a variety of flavors including Chocolate, Special Dark Chocolate, Strawberry and Caramel.
It’s shaping up to be a #HersheysSummer around here.
I just love #SundaeSundays.
Fruit is perfect for the grill because it is so easy to prepare. Fruit is basically made up of water and sugar and by grilling it you concentrate the flavors by reducing the water and caramelizing the natural sugars. Grilled Fruit Sundaes are sure to be making numerous appearances at my house this summer.
