Are you hungry for healthy back to school ideas?
Lifestyle Expert Evette Rios was kind enough to talk with me recently about healthy lunchbox ideas. Here is the video from our interview.
A recent survey says, most moms believe back to school is the real new year, and 61% of moms resolve to get their families eating healthier this back to school year. Busy parents can face a huge challenge packing lunches for their kids, trying to balance convenience, cost and healthy choices. Nearly 50% of the moms surveyed say the cost of fresh produce and healthy foods is an obstacle. Parents also want to make sure their kids lunches will keep them away from any temptations in the vending machine or lunch table swaps.
Healthy Lunchbox Ideas
Lunchbox Ideas:
- Fresh can be best – Try reinventing some veggie ideas with crumbled feta cheese or whole wheat pita chips
- Include Cool Foods – New healthy snack items that your kids haven’t tried yet
- Yogurt Sundaes – Fun yogurt flavors topped with fruit and nuts are just as tasty as the higher calorie counterpart
- Look for store and package labels that indicate healthier options and a good value

I need all the help I can get with healthy lunch box additions. At 7 AM I am not feeling rather creative. I definitely need to plan ahead!
Planning ahead is definitely a life safer for me 🙂
What a cool Interview! Congrats!
For us I try to make our lunches healthier by using wheat bread instead of white, including a yogurt, fruit and their choice of veggie, and a granola bar.
I love that she showcased the nature valley and fiber one bars! those are the only two brands we use because they are healthier options with less sugar and higher fibers!
I love her tip of letting the kids help pick out the foods, as long as you can keep them from picking the junk food, and to actually pick a healthy fruit/veggie.
Thanks Amber. I agree she had a lot of fantastic tips. I also love the Nature Valley and Fiber One bars.
Thanks for the great ideas! I like trying to get kids involved with making their lunch to encourage them to eat healthier foods too.
Both my kids love yogurt especially when you add in extra fruit & nuts. Thanks for the tips.
Yogurt sundaes are definitely my favorite and a great choice!
We’re mostly past packing lunches for right now, but these will be great tips for when Bubbles starts preschool soon!
We love to plan ahead and yogurt is one of our favorites!
We always have to pack the small fry’s lunches. He absolutely can’t stand even the smell of school lunches! Those are great tips!
And… total life saver = Gogurts!! Freeze them and they stay nice and cold until lunch time. always his 1st request!
I love healthier alternative for lunch!! The kids’ school lunch is pretty awful these days, so we always pack a lunch for them!
