My wellness plan for this year has forced me to make a lot of dietary changes. In addition to cutting back on calories and carbs, I am cutting way back on the preservatives I consume. Mixing up your own seasoning blends is such a simple way to cut preservatives out of your diet. I use taco seasoning in so many dishes. We love tacos at my house! Making homemade taco seasoning is a no-brainer for me.
This homemade taco seasoning is both preservative-free and gluten-free, and it’s so easy to customize the ingredients to suit your tastes. For example, you may like it a little spicier than I do and will want to add a bit more red pepper flakes.
Homemade Taco Seasoning
Ingredients:
1 1/2 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon oregano
¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
This is so easy to make. All you do is whisk the ingredients together in a bowl.
The recipe makes 3 tablespoons of taco seasoning. You’ll want to use 3 tablespoons per pound of meat, so double and triple this recipe accordingly.
