Hot Chocolate Stuffed Monkey Bread

Who doesn’t love to eat delicious treats? Hot chocolate monkey bread is a delicious dessert. Each bite-sized piece of this warm doughy goodness tastes like hot cocoa in your mouth. The best part about this recipe is how easy it is to make and bake for your family or friends! It’s also great for holiday parties and other special occasions because you can make one large batch in advance.

ingredients

What is Monkey Bread?

Monkey bread is a sweet, sticky pastry made with pre-made biscuit dough that includes butter, sugar, and traditionally cinnamon. Also called “funeral bread” (because it looks like monkey brains), “Mardi Gras bread”, “Dutch treat”, or “pull apart bread”.

In this take of Hot Chocolate Stuffed Monkey Bread, I am skipping the cinnamon and adding hot chocolate mix. I am also stuffing each piece of the “bread” with marshmallows because you can’t have hot chocolate without marshmallows.

Hot Chocolate Monkey Bread

How can you tell when it’s done?

It can be tough to tell when the monkey bread is ready. The Hot Chocolate monkey bread is done when it’s a deep golden brown on top and the internal temperature has reached 190 degrees F. This usually takes about 40 minutes.

Hot Chocolate Monkey Bread

Can you make Hot Chocolate Stuffed ahead of time?

This recipe is easy to make the morning you want to have it or when you want to have it for dessert. However, Yes, you may prepare it ahead of time. You want to follow the steps to make it and when you get to the baking stage, you want to refrigerate, covered well, until the next day. Then you will want to let it come to room temperature or add in extra baking time.

Hot Chocolate Monkey Bread

What kind of pan is used for hot chocolate monkey bread?

You want to use a bundt pan or tube pan for this recipe. You want to make sure it is a 12 cup capacity. If you’re using something like a 9X13 inch baking dish, it can be done, but you might need to use 2 pans and the sides of the monkey bread will not have the same texture.
