Enjoy the best Hot Wings at home courtesy of your oven. This recipe for crispy hot wings will keep everyone coming back for more!

Hot Wings

Hot wings can be a breeze to make, and they don’t have to be fried to taste amazing. In fact, baking at a high temperature is the secret to achieving perfect crispness as you sink your teeth into those mouthwatering chicken wings. Whether you’re cooking for yourself, your family, or a crowd, these hot wings will surely become a fast favorite.

Hot wings and sports are a classic combo. After all, what’s the go-to order at a sports bar? Chicken wings, right? Now, imagine the fun and savings of making those wings at home. You can even add your own twist with some tasty sides.

What Makes This Recipe Ideal for Everyone

This hot wings recipe is a game-changer. One of the unique features is the ability to customize the heat level to suit your taste. If you’re a fan of chicken wings with a kick, go for a fiery brand of hot sauce. Alternatively, you can follow the recipe as is and offer a bottle of high Scoville heat unit hot sauce on the side for those with more adventurous palates. That way, everyone is happy.

These Hot Wings Are Gluten-Free – Everyone Can Enjoy Them!

Unlike many recipes for hot wings that contain flour, these chicken wings use baking powder to achieve the desirable crispness. The combination of spices, baking powder, and brown sugar helps the chicken skin crisp up nicely. A crucial point to remember is that you want to pat the wings completely dry before mixing with the spices.

If you want, you can substitute coconut sugar for brown sugar for a paleo-friendly version. You will also want to switch out the butter in the sauce for your favorite paleo-friendly alternative.

How to Make Ahead and Store

Hot wings are always best when consumed right away. However, it is possible to make them in advance. To do so, bake the wings, but do not add the sauce. Refrigerate them in an airtight container. When ready to serve, bake them at 350˚F until hot (about 15 minutes). Then add the sauce and mix. You can do the same with leftover wings that have been sauced. However, they will lose their crispness but still taste delicious.

Serving Suggestions

Carrot and celery sticks are restaurant staples to serve alongside hot wings. They help to cool down the heat, especially when dipped in ranch or blue cheese dressing. For a change of pace, consider trying this Zesty Homemade House Dressing, which tastes far better than any jar dressing you find.

When I make hot wings, I like to play up the “restaurant or bar” atmosphere, and the perfect accompaniment is this Easy Spinach Artichoke Dip. Along with crusty bread and chips, you can also dip your celery sticks and carrots in it for a healthy alternative.

Another winning chicken wing side is coleslaw. If you want something new and refreshing, try this Mexican Coleslaw with Cilantro Lime Dressing recipe. These three recipes get you ready for the next big game day or BBQ.

  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground celery seed
  • 2/3 cup hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup honey

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top. Lightly grease the rack with nonstick spray.
