Inspiration is exactly what I need right now. I found myself in search of some inspirational quotes to pin up in my office, and thought I would share some of them with you.

I’ve been having a rough time of it lately. I have been dealing with some health issues and have been feeling quite sorry for myself. I’ve been doing the whole why me thing and have finally come to the following realization…Why not me?

Unimaginable things happen to people every day. Why not me? Fortunately, I have a loving and supporting family and faith in God. I can handle this.

There were also some things in the blogging world recently that have disappointed me and have left me feeling discouraged about what we do here on About A Mom. We were passed over for a couple of opportunities that would have been a really good fit for our blog and family. I certainly don’t expect or feel entitled to get every opportunity and don’t think our blog is the greatest one out there…not even close. But when a company or PR person is clearly making decisions based only on numbers and not content, it is very discouraging.

I understand that a good social media following is important, but so is quality content. It’s been very tricky to find the right balance and we’re still working on that. Certainly running giveaways is good for traffic and gaining followers, plus our readers enjoy it. But I want our other other blog posts to be the real draw…the star of the show. Hopefully, soon most companies will realize that numbers aren’t everything.

So I find myself needing a little inspiration and here it is.

The timing of posting these inspirational quotes could not have been better. I too have been dealing with health issues and disappointments. I sometimes think that I have been given these challenges so that I can begin to realize just how strong I am – it’s the only explanation I can come up with as to why I have been able to cope and go on.

With the approach of another 9/11 anniversary, I have been reading and watching some of the accounts of courage, pain and just plain heartbreaking stories of that day and I try to see that there are much, much worse things that could happen to me (and to any of us).

One story that has haunted me was the father who lost 2 sons on 9/11 – one son was a firefighter and one son was a police officer. I’m not sure most of us could survive that kind of loss. It helps me to put some things in perspective.

We can handle a lot more than we think we can – the trick is being able to thrive in the face of challenges.

Thank you for this well timed post – I enjoy your blog.

Thank you for your post! The quotes are so true, and we all need to think of them more often when we feel down or when we lack inspiration and courage to keep going.
