September is such a transitional month. The kids are back in school, the long hot days of Summer are becoming but a memory.

Two pumpkin pie milkshakes in tall glasses, topped with whipped cream and spice.

The cool, crisp air of Fall isn’t quite here yet. I’ve been pondering over pulling out the Fall decorations and linens this past week. I don’t feel like it’s quite time yet, but almost. I do find myself longing for that taste of the Fall season…what to do? I decided to whip up a transitional treat, so to speak…a Pumpkin Pie Milkshake.

Yum…Yum…..Yum again!

A Pumpkin Milkshake is perfect for September when it’s still warm outside, yet we find ourselves eager for a taste of the Fall season. I have a feeling we’ll be having this again after Thanksgiving dinner, and about 100 times in between. It’s to die for!!!

This recipe yielded 2 large milkshakes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup pureed pumpkin
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
  • 4 cups vanilla ice cream

Instructions:

In a blender, combine all ingredients. Blend until well combined and smooth. Add more milk if it’s too thick. Pour into 2 tall glasses. Enjoy!

This looks so good! I think I’ll make these as a treat to share with my daughter tomorrow night. I love pumpkin, and I’m always disappointed when I see recipes for “pumpkin spice” treats that do not contain any pumpkin.
