I am thrilled to partner with Dove to share LoveYourHair.com with you, and to encourage women everywhere to inspire their daughters to love their hair. Confidence, self acceptance and self love don’t come easily to a lot of women. I understand this all to well. A recent study by Dove shows that 8 in 10 women feel pressure to wear their hair a certain way. For many, this is a pressure that comes at an early age. I have already seen this with my 8 year old who fusses a lot about her hair.
I want her to know how much I love her and how important she is to me.
We have been having so much fun getting to know each other better and becoming a family these last few months. Tati is obsessed with taking selfies of us. We are by no means professional selfie takers, but we have a lot of fun with it and that’s what counts. Here we are riding Dumbo at the Magic Kingdom, snuggling on the couch, riding a ferris wheel at a local carnival, and enjoying a late summer day at the beach.
Being mom to an 8 year old girl is proving to be much different from my experiences as a boy mom. Tati is much more emotional, sensitive, and self conscious about her appearance than my son was at her age.
She often asks me why her hair is curly and not straight like mine, or why her skin is darker. I tell her that she is a beautiful mix of her mom and dad, and that she got the best of both of them. It can be hard to know just what to say in these moments. I try to keep it a fluid conversation and positively reinforce how beautiful, and smart and good she is on a regular basis. I tell her in the morning as I am brushing through her beautiful, unruly curls.
Confidence begins at home.
82% of girls learn their self-confidence from their mothers. YOU, as a mother, you hold the power to help your little girl celebrate her hair today, so that she loves it tomorrow.
Inspire Your Daughter to Love Her Hair
Instilling confidence in Tati is so important to me which is why I am such a fan of the Dove #LoveYourHair campaign. Girls shouldn’t have to feel anxiety over their hair looking a certain way. Join the Dove Love Your Hair mission to encourage your daughters to love their hair and know they’re beautiful no matter what.
Dove has put together LoveYourHair.com where you can upload a photo of your daughter, or one of both of you like I did, and then add a personal touch and share what you love about your daughter’s hair. It’s super cute and fun, and by sharing it you’ll be inspiring other mothers to encourage their daughters to love their hair.
This is a sponsored post with Dove. All opinions are my own.
Her hair is beautiful! Such awesome volume 🙂 This is a great campaign that Dove has put together.
I have naturally curly hair and I was definitely not taught to love it as s kid. I get keratin treatments now that I am an adult 🙂
I think this is awesome that brands are embracing what makes us unique and beautiful. I am so impressed by this.
Self esteem is something we should all work on. Good for you for helping your daughter through all her questions.
I think that’s so great. I see too many women out there trying to make their hair be something it isn’t in order to have “good hair”. It’s already good!
Her hair is absolutely beautiful! I love all that volume and those curls! Gorgeous.
I have 2 daughters…and now 1 beautiful 2 year old granddaughter. Lucky for me both my girls grew up with confidence…and oh yes my granddaughter has “curly” hair.
Tati has gorgeous hair indeed! You can see how happy she is with you too, which is a huge part of self acceptance and confidence.
I agree that self confidence begins at home. I don’t have a daughter, but I try to help boost my boys’ confidence in themselves every chance I get!
Her hair is beautiful and you both are so cute together. I love this message of teaching our kids to love their hair, and their natural beauty 🙂
