I warn you in advance that this jello brain recipe is not for weak stomached individuals.

If you are looking for something totally gross and gruesome to serve your guests this Halloween, jello brains are for you. I found a brain mold at Walmart last week for under $2 and knew I had to find something to do with it. Here’s what I came up with…
This jello brain is the perfect Halloween dessert and is surprisingly quite delicious. The combination of peach jello and evaporate milk makes the perfect flesh tone and a few drops of red food coloring really gave the appearance of blood vessels
Here’s What You’ll Need
Brain mold
3 – 6 ounce boxes of peach flavored gelatin
1 – 12 ounce can of light evaporated skim milk
Vegetable cooking spray
Red food coloring
Green food coloring
2 1/2 cups boiled water
1 cup cold water
Instructions:
Step 1: First spray the inside of your mold with vegetable cooking spray.
Step 2: Place gelatin into a medium size bowl. Add 2 1/2 cups of boiling water and stir with a whisk until completely dissolved, about 3 minutes.
Step 3: Stir in 1 cup of cold water.
Step 4: Pour in skim milk and stir for about 2 minutes.
Step 5: Add a few drops of green food coloring to produce the flesh color, and stir well.

Step 6: Wrap the mold in a kitchen towel and place into a bowl, sitting upright. You’ll want to be sure that the mold is sitting tight in the bowl, so that it won’t move around.
Step 7: Add several drops of red food coloring to the bottom of the mold, to create blood vessels.
Step 8: Pour jello mixture into mold, leaving approximately 1 inch space from the top of the mold.
Step 9: Place in refrigerator overnight, and allow to set completely.
To Serve – Dip the bottom of the mold into warm water and gently shake until the jello is loose from the mold. Once you are sure it is loose from the mold, invert onto a serving plate.
I didn’t think we would ever get around to actually eating the brains, because all of the kids wanted to take pictures with it. Needless to say the jello brain was a hit with everyone.

Gross! I know someone who will LOVE this!
Oh my son would totally love this!!
eeeeeeeewwwwwwwww!!! That’s so crazy!!!! It is awesome and gross!!! lol
Hmmmmm….got to think about this one. All that’s in my mind now, is that scene near the end of “Hannibal” , where Anthony Hopkins is serving Ray Liotta’s own brains to him……ewww. Know what I mean? *shuddering*
This is a great looking jello brain! Do you know if it would stay solid if I put it in cold liquid? I want to put my jello brain in a white wine sangria in a large jar for Halloween. Do you think this would work?
Hi Becky! I haven’t tried putting it in liquid, but worry that after a while it would start to break down. If you decide to give it a try, please let us know how it works out.
Question! I just made the recipe so its too late anyways. But how did you get the red food coloring for the blood vessels to not just mix in with the rest of the jello? When I poured my mixture into the brain mold the red food coloring just mixed in and I’m guessing its not going to really look like blood vessels when it congeals tomorrow. haha Anything I should do differently for next time?
Hi Jessica! I bet it turns out fine. We just put the red food coloring down into the parts of the mold where the blood vessels were at. Some of it spread, but overall it stayed where we wanted it to.
Any suggestions on how to make individual size servings
So sorry, but I have only made this is the large mold as pictured. I would imagine though that you could make multiple smaller servings. Please let me know how it works out for you!
I found that if you make the brain about 4-5 days early removed from mold and placed uncovered on a plate in the fridge the Jello becomes firmer and more realistic.
