Card crafting has long been a passion of mine. I love that I can do something I enjoy and make someone else happy in the process. Earlier this week, I made this cupcake card for a friend who wasn’t feeling well. I think it cheered her up quite well!

Making homemade cards is a passion that was sparked when I was a little girl. You know how some childhood memories are so vivid and really stick with you? Well, that’s what happened when I was about 10 years old. I was very sick. A friend of my Mom’s from church, a woman that I didn’t really know, dropped off the most beautiful handmade card. It had flaps that opened up and revealed a beautiful garden, complete with sunshine, butterflies and flowers. Inside the card was a simple hair ribbon as a gift. I was so truly touched by the time and the skill that went into making that card, and it’s a memory that has stuck with me.

In this age of technology, we don’t send as many letters and cards as we used to. I don’t know about you, but I look forward to getting the mail each morning in hopes of receiving a handwritten note from one of my friends.
Cupcake Card Supplies:
white card stock
2 sheets of scrapbooking paper in contrasting colors and patterns
scissors and a paper cutter, if you have one
clear craft glue or Tacky Glue
An assortment of white buttons
Directions:
Fold a sheet of cardstock paper in half, to form a card. Then from one sheet of scrapbooking paper, cut a piece that is just slightly smaller than the front of your card. Glue it in place.
From the other sheet of paper, use your scissors to cut a piece that resembles the shape of a cupcake liner – slightly more narrow at the bottom. Glue it in place as pictured.
Arrange your buttons until they resemble cupcake frosting. Don’t glue anything until you know exactly where you want the buttons to go. Glue them in place.
I have a stamp that I picked up from my local craft store which says “maybe a cupcake will help?” and I have been dying to use it. I think it was a sweet addition to this card.
On the inside, I added a little surprise with some washi tape – just because I LOVE washi tape.
I have a ridiculous amount of scrapbooking and cardmaking supplies, but it’s something that makes me so happy. Plus, I love spreading the happy with my cards.

That is a really cute card and great way to repurpose those old buttons!
Love the button frosting. I’ve never seen that before. I’ve also never tried Nutella on crackers. Both are must tries now.
I remember when it was fun to go to the mailbox because there was always a handwritten note and now it’s bills and flyers.
BOO!
Such a cute card!
I know! I dread checking the mailbox now. All the Facebook messages are nice on my birthday, but they don’t replace the birthday cards.
Oh that is such a cute craft, and what a great way to cheer someone up!
Love Nutella. That card is so cute.
What a cute craft to brighten someone’s day!
You could frame it too!
I love card making too, and your cupcake card rocks. I never thought of using buttons. I have never tried nutella on that kind of cracker. I haven’t actually had nutella in years, although my nephews love it. My son likes it as well.
I love your card – such a great way to use up old buttons. (Colored buttons would be cute, too) And boy, I’m passionate about Nutella, which is why it’s not allowed it the house. I’m so passionate that it can disappear in a few days!
Love that this is something even I can do! Love the button frosting.
OMG that cards is way too cute!
