Card crafting has long been a passion of mine. I love that I can do something I enjoy and make someone else happy in the process. Earlier this week, I made this cupcake card for a friend who wasn’t feeling well. I think it cheered her up quite well!

Scrapbooking, paper crafts and card making are all great hobbies. Make someone happy with this sweet Cupcake Card. See the tutorial.

Making homemade cards is a passion that was sparked when I was a little girl. You know how some childhood memories are so vivid and really stick with you? Well, that’s what happened when I was about 10 years old. I was very sick. A friend of my Mom’s from church, a woman that I didn’t really know, dropped off the most beautiful handmade card. It had flaps that opened up and revealed a beautiful garden, complete with sunshine, butterflies and flowers. Inside the card was a simple hair ribbon as a gift. I was so truly touched by the time and the skill that went into making that card, and it’s a memory that has stuck with me.

In this age of technology, we don’t send as many letters and cards as we used to. I don’t know about you, but I look forward to getting the mail each morning in hopes of receiving a handwritten note from one of my friends.

Cupcake Card Supplies:

white card stock
2 sheets of scrapbooking paper in contrasting colors and patterns
scissors and a paper cutter, if you have one
clear craft glue or Tacky Glue
An assortment of white buttons

Directions:

Fold a sheet of cardstock paper in half, to form a card. Then from one sheet of scrapbooking paper, cut a piece that is just slightly smaller than the front of your card. Glue it in place.

From the other sheet of paper, use your scissors to cut a piece that resembles the shape of a cupcake liner – slightly more narrow at the bottom. Glue it in place as pictured.

Arrange your buttons until they resemble cupcake frosting. Don’t glue anything until you know exactly where you want the buttons to go. Glue them in place.

I have a stamp that I picked up from my local craft store which says “maybe a cupcake will help?” and I have been dying to use it. I think it was a sweet addition to this card.

On the inside, I added a little surprise with some washi tape – just because I LOVE washi tape.

I have a ridiculous amount of scrapbooking and cardmaking supplies, but it’s something that makes me so happy. Plus, I love spreading the happy with my cards.

Oh I love that button cupcake! What a cute twist! I think this would be cute in a little girls nursery – sorry trying to distract myself from the fact that I now want a Nutella Cupcake!

ADORABLE! I actually still send cards through ‘snail mail’ quite a bit. Not homemade ones though, that’s raising the bar 😉

I think the card turned out so cute. My daughter is a Nutella nut. I bet I could wrap some up for Christmas and she’d be thrilled. In fact, I wonder if they’ll put out gift pkgs. for the holiday, lol. I will be looking. 🙂

This reminds me of the days when I used to make handmade cards for my grandmother. I miss her so much, but there’s always someone out there who could use a card, and the handmade touch is priceless.

The cupcake card is such a cute idea. It inspired me to use some leftover buttons around the house for arts and crafts projects with my kids.
