Here’s an excellent mermaid party food idea that’s just as beautiful as it is tasty! Kids will love sinking cookies and fruit into this tasty dip.

Mermaid Dip in white bowls, swirled with colorful cream cheese and topped with sprinkles.

In need of a festive mermaid party food to serve your little guests? We had a lot of fun putting this mermaid dip together. The sprinkles on top remind me of the jewels and treasures Ariel was always hunting in “The Little Mermaid”. You can get creative and use a variety of sprinkles in this recipe!

This party food is great for a birthday party that’s just for mermaids or decorated with an “Under the Sea” theme.

Colorful Mermaid Dip swirled with blue, purple, and pink, topped with assorted sprinkles in a bowl.

Variations

Mermaid Tail Dip: Why mix the ingredients together when you can use a piping bag to create a tai on a serving platter. Once the “tail” is in place, decorate it with the sprinkles and pearls so that it looks like a fancy mermaid tail.

Ocean Blue Dip: Co-ordinate your colors by using blue food coloring to tint the mixture so it resembles ocean waves. Don’t stop at the coloring, though. Add some blue flavoring — blue raspberry or blueberry extract. Then fill the ocean with decorations, like fish-shaped sprinkles or blue sugar crystals.

Caribbean Dip: Add pineapple or coconut flavors for an island theme. Crushed pineapple or coconut flakes can be added to the cream cheese mixture, then powdered sugar and marshmallow cream. For decorations, use edible palm trees or seashells.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve it with a few different cookies (such as vanilla wafers, butter cookies, shortbread cookies, sugar cookies, and/or gingersnaps) for dipping.
  • It goes well with strawberries, apples, and other fruit, too!

How To Store Mermaid Party Food

You can store the dip in an airtight container for up to 4 days in the fridge. While you CAN freeze it, I don’t recommend doing so. Dips that contain cream cheese lose their texture and become watery and grainy when they thaw.
