When I was a kid our entire summer was spent playing outside. We had a blast doing something as simple as running through the sprinkler on a hot summer afternoon. Outdoor games that got us wet and cooled off were a must in Florida.

This is a sponsored post for SheSpeaks/Relay by Republic Wireless.

Here we are only a couple of weeks into summer break, and I find myself struggling to get my 9-year old excited to do much anything than play on her tablet or game system. I decided to get back to basics and come up with something fun we could do together and cool off at the same time. With a few pool noodles, some packing tape, and balloons, we made a super fun pool noodle water balloon ring toss game.

Supplies you’ll need:
water ballons
pool noodles
heavy duty tape, such as packing tape or Duct tape

Shape the pool noodles into circles and secure the ends by wrapping with tape. Lay balloons flat in a straight line or whatever configuration you like. Fill balloons with water, and toss into the rings. If you’re feeling competitive, you can even assign a point value for each ring, and keep a tally.

When you are finished playing, carefully remove the tape from your pool noodles.

My little girl and I had an absolute blast playing this water balloon ring toss game together. Towards the end we ‘might’ have intentionally got each other wet. More her than me! Many thanks to Relay by Republic Wireless for encouraging me to get outside and have some family fun this summer. Relay encourages kids to get outside and have bold adventures – without worry.

Relay is a nationwide cell phone alternative that’s as simple to use as a walkie talkie and it works everywhere. The device has 4G LTE coverage that allows parents and kids to stay in touch without the worry of a smartphone or screen, so you can have peace of mind while your kids go play and have and have adventures.

I really like Relay as an alternative for kids who are not ready to have their own smartphone. There is no phone number so the child is only able to communicate with people that you approve. The device is activated through a companion app on the parent’s phone, which controls their settings and includes GPS tracking. Learn more about Relay by Republic Wireless.

Are you ready to Play Relay? I’d love to hear about the summer fun your family is having! Feel free to share in comments below.

We have so many “noodies” (as we call them). What a great way to put them to use instead of sending them to landfill!
