As far back as I can remember, my niece Maddie has been a puppy fanatic. A couple of years ago we shared one of her many puppy parties here on the blog for which I made a 2-layer puppy themed birthday cake for her. It was a big hit with all the kids. The puppy madness continues around here and I would like to share with you a few of our latest Puppy Party Ideas.

Puppy Party Ideas - Puppy Cupcakes

Puppy Cupcakes

These Puppy Cupcakes turned out so cute and were surprisingly very simple to make. To keep it very simple, I made the chocolate cupcakes from a boxed mix and a container of chocolate frosting. Of course, you can use your favorite cake and frosting recipes to make these. Here’s what you’ll need to make puppy cupcakes:

Here’s What You’ll Need:
chocolate frosted cupcakes
Nutter Butter cookies, separated with filling scraped off
Nilla Wafer cookies
M&M’s
chocolate frosting
white frosting

After you have frosted your cupcakes with chocolate frosting, place a Nilla Wafer cookie on top of the cupcake, at one end. Using a small pastry tip or a sandwich bag with the end snipped off, and filled with chocolate frosting, draw on the puppy mouth. Use a dab of frosting to add an M&M nose.

Place one half of a Nutter Butter cookie on each side of the cupcake to form the ears.

Place some white frosting in a sandwich bag and snip the end off. Place 2 dots of frosting above the dog’s mouth to create the whites of the eyes. Place a brown M&M on top of the frosting for the dog’s pupils.

Puppy Party Ideas - Classic Puppy Chow Recipe

Classic Puppy Chow

You often see Puppy Chow recipes popping up around the holidays, but I thought it would be the perfect snack for a Puppy Party. There are many variations of this recipe, but I used a classic Puppy Chow recipe.

Ingredients:

1 cup peanut butter
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup margarine (1 stick)
9 cups Rice Chex Cereal
2 cups powdered sugar

Melt the chocolate chips, peanut butter and margarine together.

Place Chex cereal in a very large bowl with a tight fitting lid or into a double layered brown paper bag. Next, pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal. Place the lid on the bowl or fold the top of the bag down and shake/stir until all the cereal is coated. Allow to cool for 3 minutes.

Sprinkle powdered sugar over the cereal and shake well. Add more if needed and re-shake until all the cereal is coated in white.

Puppy Party Ideas - Party Guest

Every puppy party needs some 4-legged party guests in addition to the kids! Our other dog, Winston, only cared about eating his hat. Bad dog! I thought it best not to show that.

I hope you enjoyed this Puppy Paw-TY!

This is so cute. My daughter is 5 and she loves puppies. We don’t have one but she’d still love to have this theme party. Thanks for sharing.

No, but that sounds really cute! I’ll have to find that, since there are likely many more puppy parties in our future. 🙂
