I came across this recipe standing in Aldi looking for a new treat to try out to begin the holiday season. Something tasty for future potluck dinners. Tonight we would have a cake to make our stay in dinner a little special. Thanks to the inspiration found on justapinch.com, we have a new delicious creation. It’s made and ready in a little over an hour but is also equally indulgent when cold later.
Pro Tip: 2 things help make this recipe a breeze, besides the fact that it is only 3 ingredients. First a good whisk. By using a, mixing is a piece of cake (Pun intended). Also, a good 9*13 cake pan is a must. I love this one because it has a lid which means covering my desserts or casseroles is simple.
3 ingredients. One can of pie filling, one box of cake mix, and three eggs. You can fancy it up in any way you wish. While thinking of our upcoming fire pit season, marshmallows came to mind.
So we have cherry pie filling, devil’s food chocolate cake mix, eggs, and a jar of marshmallow fluff. Time to make a tasty potluck cake!
This was so super easy. Set oven to 350 and grease a 9×13 pan. I use butter for this task personally.
Add cake mix to a bowl. Time for 3 eggs. Scoop in the pie filling. Mix it up well and then pour into the greased pan. Only one dirty dish! And no beaters to clean!
Bake for 35 minutes. We took an evening walk. The house smelled divine when we got home. Remove from oven when toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow to cool as long as you can stand to stay out of it. The fruit filling is a bit hot.
Once mostly cooled, we added the marshmallow fluff And I’m glad I did. The flavor of this cake is quite intense and the picture doesn’t do the moisture justice. I would proudly take this to my next neighborhood potluck!
