Tis the season for holiday treats, and I have a wonderful sweet and salty treat to share with you today. If you’re looking for some homemade gift ideas, this is for you. Salted Caramel Candies are perfect for gift giving and serving to guests at your holiday party.
I have a feeling Santa wouldn’t mind so much if you left a couple of these out for him.
Ingredients:
Caramel Squares
Flake Sea Salt
Melting Chocolate
Additional Materials:
Chocolate Melting Pot
Parchment Paper
Candy Sticks, or Toothpicks
Directions:
Melt chocolate on low heat using a melting pot, in the microwave or over the stove. Stir until smooth.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unwrap chocolate squares and prep them by pushing candy sticks or toothpicks into their centers for dipping. Place the caramel squares onto the baking tray.
As soon as chocolate is melted, dip your caramel in making sure to cover the entire square. Use a knife to graze the bottom of the square and clear away and dripping chocolate. Remove candy stick from caramel as soon as you place it onto the parchment paper lined tray. Sprinkle a couple grains of flaked sea salt over the top of the chocolate caramel square so that it sets in the chocolate as it dries.
Repeat for all your caramel squares. Chocolate only takes a minute to dry so sea salt must be added for each one as you go.
Enjoy!
