Tis the season for gift giving, and that includes the family pets. One of my family’s holiday traditions is exchanging our stockings on Christmas, along with opening one gift which usually is a pair of new pajamas. Our stocking exchange always includes the family dogs. If you are a regular reader of this blog, you’ve probably figured out that our dogs, Winston and Lilly, are spoiled rotten. I think that’s how it should be. This post about stocking stuffer and gift ideas for dogs is sponsored by Rachael Ray Nutrish for pets.
Deciding what to put in your dog’s stocking can be a bit tricky, since there aren’t a whole lot of options aside from treats and toys.
When filling Winston and Lilly’s stockings I try to always include a couple of toys, a good chewing bone, some dental chews, and one or two of their favorite treats like Rachael Ray Nutrish Soup Bones. When choosing toys, I try to find ones that make noise and won’t get easily be torn to shreds. Lilly loves anything that squeaks and Winston likes a toy that he can play tug-of-war with.
The spoiled pups who have taken over the house…
A pretty new collar or leash is another great stocking stuffer idea.
Since the cold weather can be hard on pets, a soothing nose and paw salve is a nice treat. Lilly loves having a pawdicure, and getting the pads of her paws moisturized. A soothing oatmeal shampoo and conditioner will always be appreciated by your pups.
I make sure they also have something under the tree on Christmas morning. This year, I put a chalkboard label on a holiday tin and filled it with Winston and Lilly’s favorite treats.
Christmas is a great time to purchase your pet a new bed. Our dogs don’t need new beds right now, but Lilly loves getting new blankets to snuggle up in.
Do you give your pets holiday gifts?
Great ideas. I still have to get something for my dog, Milo 🙂
We definitely get our dog stocking stuffer gifts. she has her own stocking too! My dog loves any sort of chicken-flavored treats and toys with squeakies in them – she tears them apart to get the squeaker out!
So super cute! I don’t have any furbabies right now, but when I do I always get them special stuff for the holidays too, they are family! 🙂
Those dogs will be busy with their treats while the kids are busy with their toys. It should be a great Christmas!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who buys the dogs stuff for Christmas. We can’t put anything under the tree though because they have broken into their presents in the past. haha
These are such cute ideas! Why shouldn’t the pooches get a stocking?
I always make sure my pups have gifts under the tree too! My husband rolls his eyes, but it does keep them occupied while our girls tear into theirs.
That woof tin is so adorable! I need to make one of those.
Our dog always gets a stocking! I love these ideas to fill it this year. 🙂
Our dog gets a big bone or large treat that will keep her occupied while we open gifts. We train constantly so she gets treats all day long. BTW- your puppies are adorable
