I get really excited when I find a book for the kids that is both fun to read and educational. The Titan Prophecy: Rise of The Dark One, the first book in a new series by A.M. Crawford hits the mark on both counts. This book allows the reader to escape to another era, one filled with Mythological figures and Titans.
The story opens by introducing the main character Charlie and his best friend Max. The boys make the decision to take a short cut home through the forbidden grounds of a remote Gothic mansion, in an effort to avoid missing curfew. They find themselves confronted by an unidentified threat ‘The Dark One’ and their ill fated decision thrusts them into an adventure neither could have imagined. Throughout the book the boys and Charlie’s sister Emily travel back and forth between Ancient Greece and the present, on a quest to save the world from a destructive new war between the Gods and Titans.
Early in the story it emerges that Charlie is the subject of a prophecy, a chosen one. I can’t help but think about the Harry Potter series, where the story is also based on a prophesy concerning the main character. Fans of the popular J.K. Rowling series are sure to love this new series written by A.M. Crawford.
There is excellent development of the main characters and many Mythological characters such as Parseus, Zeus, and Hades are introduced in the book. I found The Titan Prophecy: Rise of The Dark One to be very suspenseful, entertaining, and full of adventure. It is a perfect fit for the recommended readers, ages 11+ and up.
You can find The Titan Prophecy: Rise of The Dark One on both Amazon and Facebook.
