Ingredients

  • 1 butter pound cake thawed and cut into cubes
  • 2 1 ounce boxes vanilla instant pudding, prepared
  • 4 cups mixed fresh berries set aside a few for garnishing
  • 1 8 ounce container whipped topping

Instructions

  • To make this Mixed Berry Trifle, you'll first need to cut your butter cake into cubes that are about 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch in size. If you're going to make one large trifle, you can go up to about 1 inch in size.
  • Fill the bottom of the trifle dish with a layer of cubed pound cake.
  • Spread on a layer of vanilla pudding.
  • Mixed berries make up the next layer. I used a combination of raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. Strawberries would be another nice addition. My berries were plenty sweet, so I didn't add any sugar. If you find your berries aren't quite sweet enough, add 1/2 to 1 cup of sugar to them and allow to sit for about 30 minutes.
  • Spread a generous amount of whipped topping over the berries. You can absolutely make your own whipped cream, but I chose to keep this recipe incredibly simple and purchased ready-made whipped topping.
  • I like to garnish each trifle with a few berries. Some fresh mint leaves would be very pretty too.
