Even meat lovers go crazy for the crusty, crunchy crust that only a Black Bean Burger can bring.

Black bean burgers are healthy, plant-based burgers, yes. But they sure eat like a meat burger. At first, your basic meat and potato-loving dinner guest might hear that you’re planning to fry up some black bean burgers and get all like, “I don’t care what you say, I’m a meat eater!”
But once they see that browned, savory black bean burger exterior, just all crisped up with spices, Worcestershire, chunks of green peppers and onions, they’ll be reaching for one of these quicker than you can say, “Told ya.”
That’s because even die-hard carnivores can’t help but love these browned, delicious-looking (and smelling) burgers. You just can’t deny the aroma of savory seasonings, beans, and aromatics packed into these veggie-filled patties, which beckon you so enticingly.
What makes black bean burgers so delicious?
Black bean burgers end up amazingly crusty on the outside and taste surprisingly meaty. They also have a dewy and flavorful interior, since all those black beans are mixed with flavor-enhancing add-ins like soy sauce, ketchup, breadcrumbs, paprika, bell peppers, onions, eggs, cumin, and chili powder. All of the ingredients work together very nicely to make this one meaty burger, without the need for meat.
On an outdoor grill, black bean burgers develop almost smoky, charred flavors, like you might enjoy at any cookout. So, black bean burgers are not just a substitute for a meat burger. They’re too packed with these flavorful ingredients for that.
How do I store leftovers?
You can store leftover black bean burgers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For optimal results, wrap each one individually in plastic wrap. You can also freeze them for 90 days by wrapping them the same way and then stacking them in a gallon freezer bag.

These black bean burgers taste wonderful with this Loaded Potato Salad, which complements these crispy burgers with mayonnaise, bacon bits, and cheese. These crunchy, munchy Air-Fryer Onion Rings are a fun side that is ready in just minutes. For dessert, nothing says “I love you” like this stunner of a two-layer Coconut Cream Cake. It’s a dreamy cake that would be a delicious treat after all these contrasting and complementary flavors.

- 2 14-ounce cans black beans drained and rinsed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 1/4 teaspoons ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 3/4 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 2/3 cup breadcrumbs
- Olive oil for cooking
- 6 burger buns lightly toasted

Instructions
- Using a food processor, process the onion, bell pepper, and garlic into a paste.
