This Blue Cheese Burger Recipe has crumbled blue cheese right in your hamburger mixture, for one sumptuous, savory burger.

Moms are strategic ladies, right? They have to be.

Grades going down? Well, where is that remote to the kids’ Xbox, after all? It must have just disappeared (wink).

Ditto with getting kids to try foods they would otherwise give you a side-to-side head shake with a big “NO.” attached to it. Like blue cheese.

As Rachael Ray taught us with marinara sauce, which she used as her go-to vehicle for “sneaking in” veggies for kids, burgers are so fun and delicious that the crumble of blue cheese will either go completely unnoticed or really appreciated. But only in one of those two directions.

With this recipe, you combine blue cheese crumbles with just the right amount of other spices to really enrich the burger with deep, savory flavor. So, yes, blue cheese deepens the flavors of this burger, yet it doesn’t scream “Blue Cheese Detected” like a robot off Lost in Space or something. All you know is that these burgers taste unusually …. and even suspiciously … delicious.

So, adults get to enjoy what they know is the taste of a burger made even more savory by the heady flavors of blue cheese, while kids just know they want seconds.

Why you and your family will love blue cheese burgers

Blue cheese complements savory dishes like crazy. Stuff a chicken breast with some blue cheese and ham, and top it with more cheese, and you’ll have a lovely play on chicken cordon bleu. Crumbled over a layer of mozzarella in a Buffalo chicken pizza, blue cheese can really accentuate every sparkling, spicy, and tomatoey flavor in that Buffalo sauce.

And when you combine blue cheese with raw hamburger meat and other flavor-enhancers like garlic powder, salt, and pepper, it deeply underscores the earthy, savory, umami flavors of a burger, giving them a deeply satisfying taste and aroma as they fry in your skillet.

With a sweet swirl of ketchup, they taste amazing. With a luscious dollop of mayonnaise, they’re deeply yummy. Mustard, of any kind, will only bring a tangier flavor to the blue cheese burger. And the cheese melting in the burger as you fry it makes for one dewy, delicious burger with a zing of flavor in every bite.

How do I store leftovers?

Blue cheese burger patties can be stored for up to 3 days in an airtight container. You can also freeze these burgers, sans bun, sauces, and toppings, for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat in a skillet over medium heat until hot throughout.

Serving suggestions

Try serving these deeply delicious, savory burgers with this sweet, tangy, and creamy Pasta Salad. A side of these ultra-crispy Air-Fryer Onion Rings tastes especially nice with these burgers, too. For dessert, nothing beats this Panna Cotta with Balsamic Strawberries.
