Coming up with after school snack ideas that are fun and nutritious can become challenging after a while. During our winter break, not having to worry about afternoon snacks and ALL THE THINGS related to school during gave me a chance to reset.
It helped me kick off the second half of the school year with some new creative and fun after school snack ideas.
Having that winter break from school sure was nice, but it can be a little challenging getting back into the swing of things after a vacation. One of the things I really enjoyed over winter break was no homework. There, I said it. I am not a fan of homework, and I think my dislike for homework has rubbed off onto my 8 year old. Third grade homework can be exhausting, so an after school snack that is both yummy and good for you is paramount. Peanut Butter is my favorite protein-filled food for after school. It is the key ingredient in both of the after school snack ideas that I am sharing with you today.

Creative and Fun After School Snacks

Make Peanut Butter Banana Sushi
Ingredients:
Banana
Peter Pan Peanut Butter (Original, Naturals and/or Simply Ground)
Rice Cereal
Coat banana with peanut butter.
Roll in rice cereal to coat.
Cut into 1/2 inch slices.
Banana sushi is such a fun after school snack. It’s one that the kids will enjoy helping you make. You can make this snack even more fun by eating with chop sticks.
Make Apple Sandwiches
Ingredients:
Apple
Peter Pan Peanut Butter (Original, Naturals and/or Simply Ground)
Granola
Core and slice apple.
Spread a generous amount of peanut butter onto one side of two apple slices.
Sprinkle one apple slice with granola and top with the other apple slice to make a sandwich.
Once the apple sandwich is made, I like to roll the edges into additional granola.

We love the combination of that creamy peanut butter and the crunch you get from the granola. This is such a fun way to eat an apple.
