Disney’s John Carter is available June 5th to Blu-ray, DVD, and On Demand.
Unlike the rest of my family, I am not a big fan of Sci-Fi movies. Little did I know, John Carter is not your typical Sci-Fi film. John Carter has such a unique story line that takes you on an adventure full of courage, love, compassion, bravery, discovery, mystery, and of course a lot of really cool special effects.
As a warrior lost on Earth, John Carter is magically transported to Mars, where the fate of the planet and its people ultimately rest in his hands. With surprising new powers, and epic battles, he rises to become the man he is meant to be and the hero he truly is.
Trading one conflict for another, John Carter escapes being forced back into the military to find himself in the middle of a conflict on Barsoom, the planet Mars. Because of the lessened gravity on Mars John has the unique ability to jump great distances and has increased strength, which has him perceived by some as a God and a great enemy by others. John becomes a friend and ally to the aliens called Tharks, who become instrumental in helping him save the country of Helium.
John falls in love with a Mars Princess, Dejah of Helium. It’s this bond that carries him through to save Helium from the evil Sab Than, who is on a quest of destruction and domination over all of Barsoom. After defeating Sab Than, John unexpectedly finds himself sent back to Earth where he spends years and his vast fortune trying to find a way back to Barsoom and his wife Dejah. Will he find his way back? I’m not telling…you’ll have to watch the movie to find out!
John Carter is a true warrior and hero, one that you will find yourself rooting for from the begging to the end of the film. The movie John Carter is an ambitious and unforgettable screen adaptation of the classic novel “A Princess of Mars” by Edgar Rice Burroughs, stars heartthrob Taylor Kitsch (“Friday Night Lights,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”) in the title role, Lynn Collins (“X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” “The Number 23”) as Dejah Thoris, Willem Dafoe (“The English Patient,” “Spider Man”) as Tars Tarkas, and Dominic West (“300,” “The Wire”) as Sab Than. The screenplay is written by Stanton, Mark Andrews and Michael Chabon.
My family enjoyed this movie so much that we are really hoping Disney makes another film from the series by Edgar Rice Burroughs. John Carter is available to Blu-Ray, DVD, and On-Demand on June 5th, just in time for Father’s Day! The John Carter 2-Disc Combo Pack will be available at retailers for a suggested price of $39.99.
