The back to school season can cause a little anxiety for both kids and moms. There is so much preparation needed for a new school year, from back to school shopping, to checkups with the pediatrician, school lunch planning, and creating carpooling schedules. As I’m sure you well know, the list goes on and on. Just last week I made three different trips for school supplies. Every time I turned around there was something else we needed to pick up. Because of the sheer exhaustion and anxiety this time of the year can cause, it’s so important to have the stability of things you can count on and sticking to routines. This week I’ve been getting into a back to school routine with the help of healthy and delicious Bigelow Tea.
On Sunday I dropped Maddie and Becca off at the gym for 3 hours of tumbling and cheer practice. This gave me a chance to pick up some more last minute school supplies and groceries. One important stop during that shopping trip was the Coffee and Tea aisle. Iced tea is a staple in my house at dinnertime. And with the school year starting up, I needed to stock up for nightly cup of herbal tea. It really helps me to wind down and fall asleep at the end of a hectic day.
I picked up school supplies, school lunch items, dinner ingredients for the busy weeknights ahead, and some other items to help ease my family into our new back to school routine.
Sticking to a routine is so important when getting ready for a new school year. Routines provide us with comfort and stability. It’s just nice to know there are certain things you can always count on. The back to school season brings on host of  changes and new experiences for the whole family. A week or two before school starts, it’s a good idea to start practicing your new back to school schedule – this includes adapting new bedtime and wake-up schedules. You will also want to get kids accustomed to eating breakfast and lunch the same time as their school schedule. Do a morning run through and make sure you’ve set a wake-up time that allows enough time. These are all things that have worked for my family.
A new school year also means lots of extra-curricular activities. It’s important to still carve out that family mealtime. It’s no secret that iced tea is a tradition for us folks in the south, and my family is no exception. I know that sweet tea is real popular, but I prefer a healthier and more natural iced tea at dinner time. Bigelow Green Tea with Pomegranate makes the perfect pitcher of iced tea. I use 8 bags to make 2 quarts of tea. This tea is so delicious and naturally sweet that you don’t even need to add sugar. Green tea has powerful antioxidans and many health benefits – just what my family needs during the hectic back to school season.
It’s also important for moms and dads to get lots of rest during the back to school season. I know this is easier said than done, but I have a tip to share with you. After a long and busy day, I enjoy nothing more than to sit down with a cup of hot herbal tea. I like picking up the Bigelow Assorted Herb Teas variety box from Walmart that has all my favorite caffeine herbal tea varieties. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be the Bigelow Sweet Dreams Tea. The name really says it all. There’s nothing but sweet dreams ahead after you’ve relaxed and enjoyed a cup of this tea.
Bigelow Tea is a healthier alternative to coffee and sodas. There are many herbal and caffeine free varieties, plus many teas with antioxidant properties.
