This is great for kids to make because it’s easy and relatively mess-free as well as delicious!
Bread in a Bag
1 heaping tablespoon dry yeast
1 1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup very warm water
1/4 cup margarine
1 1/2 cup additional flour (extra flour if still too sticky)
1 gallon size zip style plastic bag
measuring cups
measuring spoons
bread pan, cookie sheet, or muffin tins (depending on what you make)
no-stick cooking spray
Put yeast, 1 1/2 cups flour, sugar and salt into bag. Add margarine and warm water. Press most of the air out of the bag and seal. Press and squeeze the bag with your hands until the dough becomes mixed. Open bag and add last 1 1/2 cups flour. Reseal bag and keep squeezing until the flour is worked into the dough. Add 1/4 to 1/2 cup more flour if your dough is very sticky. Unzip the bag and let the dough rest for 20 minutes. This will let the dough rise. Spray the pan with no-stick cooking spray. Punch the dough down. Then take the dough out of the bag and place it in the pan in a warm, but not hot, place to rise until about doubled in size. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Bake bread for 25 to 30 minutes or rolls for 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from pan and cool.
