I have never had much luck when it comes to kitchen gadgets. It probably has something to do with the fact that I often seem to purchase the most inexpensive model or whatever is on sale. Finally, I figured out that I’m not saving a dime when the darn appliance needs to be replaced every few months. I have since started reading more product reviews and making more educated purchases. I was truly thrilled to learn that I would be getting the Ninja Ultima Blender to review, because the blender I have been using is an absolute disgrace. My sister-in-law has a Ninja blender and I have coveted it so, for many months now. She is always raving about it. I love to cook and entertain, so it’s high time I have a kitchen appliance that is up to the task.
Preparing snacks and holiday treats will be so easy this year with my Ninja Ultima Blender. The very first thing I made with the Ninja Ultima is Pumpkin Hummus to serve with some homemade pita chips. It whipped up in no time at all, and I love that I’ll easily be able to double the recipe. The Ninja Ultima Blender pitcher holds a whopping 72 ounces.
It’s hard to describe just how powerful this blender is, unless you see it in action for yourself. I have never had a blender or food processor that has so easily and fully combined and pureed all of the ingredients.
Pumpkin Hummus is such a simple and delicious holiday treat!
ingredients:
1 small clove garlic
1 (15 ounce) can chickpeas, drained
1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon paprika
juice of one lemon
1-2 tablespoons olive oil
directions:
Peel the garlic clove and place it into the blender pitcher. Pulse until the garlic clove is finely minced.
Add the drained chickpeas, pumpkin puree, salt, cumin, paprika and juice of one lemon. Pulse until smooth. Pour in 1 to 2 tablespoons olive oil and continue to pulse until desired consistency. There is a pour spout built into the Ninja pitcher lid that makes this super easy. Spoon into a bowl, add a dash of paprika for some color, and serve with pita chips.
For the pita chips, I cut some flat bread into wedges. Tosses the bread with olive oil, salt, pepper and Italian season, and then toasted in the oven until crisp.
My family has been using the new blender to make all sorts of smoothies and shakes. The Ninja Ultima comes with 3 pro single serve cups with sips and seal lids that are perfect for making shakes and smoothies, and even taking them on the go. Peppermint Eggnog Milkshakes are our holiday favorite.
ingredients for one Peppermint Eggnog Shake:
1 peppermint candy cane
3 scoops vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup eggnog
1 teaspoon very good peppermint extract
directions:
Place candy cane into a Ninja single serve cup. Pulse once to crush the candy cane into pieces.
Add ice cream, eggnog, and peppermint extract. Pulse until smooth.
When crushing the peppermint in the blender cup, be sure to pulse only one time. That’s all it takes for the Ninja to pulverize the hard candy. The Ninja Ultima Blender uses total crushing and high speed cyclonic technology that will make holiday cooking and baking a breeze. The 2.5 peak horsepower motor is impressive, and has easily blended and crushed everything I have placed into the blender.
I used to dread pulling out appliances like blenders and food processors, because it is always such a pain to wash them. I am glad to report that the Ninja comes apart easily for cleaning.
The Ninja Ultima is perfect for baby food, dips, batters, purees, salad dressings, smoothies, milkshakes, and even juices. It comes with a booklet of healthy recipes, and easy-to-follow directions.
The blender itself is amazing, but the price point is even better and would make a perfect Christmas gift for someone who likes to cook or eat healthy. The Ninja Ultima Blender is $260, and considering that it has a lot of the same features as more expensive blenders, it’s well worth the cost.
What’s your favorite thing to make in a blender?
disclosure: About a Mom received the Ninja Ultima Blender to review. As always, opinions are our own.

I’m a sucker for a good protein shake or smoothie, so I could easily explore all of my options with a Ninja blender.
I love our Ninja system. Would love to have the Ultimate blender. Very impressive that it turned a candy cane into dust. It is on my wish list.
