TruMoo Chocolate flavored milk is a favorite drink at my house. Not only does it taste great, but TruMoo milk contains 8 essential nutrients. It is sweetened with just enough sugar, and contains no high fructose corn syrup. That’s something I can feel good about.
Being a big fan of seasonal treats, I was so happy to see the new TruMoo Orange Scream in my local Walmart. It inspired me to come up with a new Halloween dessert recipe. It’s my take on the popular Orange Dream Dessert.
This recipe pulls from some of my favorite desserts. I used the pretzel crust from a strawberry gelatin salad that I sometimes make, and the orange gelatin and mandarin orange layer from congealed salad that I make every Christmas. I can’t believe I have never shared those recipes with you…. coming soon.
The top layer of my Orange Dream Dessert is made with vanilla pudding and you guessed it – TruMoo Orange Scream. A little whipped topping finishes it all off.
Orange “Scream” Dream Dessert
Ingredients:
pretzel crust:
2 cups crushed pretzels
¾ cup butter, melted
3 tbsp. white sugar
bottom layer:
6 ounce box orange gelatin
2 (8 oz.) packages of cream cheese, softened
1 can (11 oz.) mandarin orange segments, undrained
2 cups boiling water
second layer:
2 (3.4 oz.) packages vanilla instant pudding
3 cups TruMoo Orange Scream
topping:
1 (8 oz.) container whipped topping
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Stir together crushed pretzels, melted butter and 3 tablespoons sugar; mix well and press mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Bake 8 – 10 minutes until set. Set aside to cool.
Pour 2 cups boiling water on orange-flavored gelatin; stir until gelatin is dissolved. Gradually stir gelatin mixture into cream cheese. Refrigerate until thickened slightly but not set. Stir in orange segments; pour evenly over pretzel crust. Refrigerate until almost firm.
Beat vanilla pudding and TruMoo Orange Scream flavored milk with a whisk for about 2 minutes. Spread over the gelatin layer and refrigerate until set.
Spread whipped topping over the top, cut into squares and serve.
This dessert is so good I could just SCREAM! Pun intended. The little bits of mandarin orange are a nice surprise, and the TruMoo Orange Scream give this dessert the perfect orange color and flavor for Halloween.
I want to show you the color of the TruMoo Orange Scream in a glass, so you can really see the color of it. Doesn’t it make you think of an orange dreamsicle? Your kids are going to love this!
