Make this summertime favorite Peach Milkshake at home any time of year!

Peach Milkshake

Nothing says “summertime” like the frosty freshness of a peach milkshake. You know what I mean if you’ve ever been to a peach orchard at the height of the season and then bitten into a freshly picked, juicy peach. The burst of luscious flavor is one you want to savor over and over. Combining it with ice cream to make a cool drink makes perfect sense on a hot day.

I remember my teenage years in Southern California when the peaches were so big and juicy you had to hold them with two hands and eat them over the sink. By the time you were done, peach juice was all over your shirt.

Today, I long for those days when I see the significantly smaller peaches at the grocery store. However, I had an epiphany during a recent visit to a local organic peach farm. Although small, their peaches were as sweet as sugar. Yes, it can be time-consuming to peel, chop, and freeze bags of peaches, but it is worth it every time I blend them into milkshakes or smoothies.

Another bonus to stocking up on peaches when they are in season and on sale is that you have extra for baking. Try this Peach Scones recipe and serve them with your milkshake for a double-taste treat.

Make This Copycat Restaurant Milkshake At Home!

If peach milkshakes have you thinking about your favorite fast-food chicken restaurant, you’re not alone. Many people wait all year for peach season to roll around so they can hit up the drive-thru and ask for this creamy frozen treat. The pictures on the menu board are mouth-watering, but so are the ones in the photos below. Aren’t you excited that you can make these drinks at home?

I recommend using high-quality vanilla ice cream with vanilla bean specks for the best taste. Your finished product is only as good as the ingredients you use. Ripe, fresh peaches in season provide the best flavor in your shake; however, frozen peaches will work fine if you crave a shake out of season.

How Do I Prep and Store the Milkshake?

One of my favorite ways to make peach milkshakes ahead of time is to blend the ripe peaches and freeze them in ice cube trays. Once frozen, place the puréed-peach cubes in a freezer bag and remove the excess air. The frozen peach cubes will last a few months and can be added to milkshakes and smoothies.
Peach milkshakes can also be frozen in airtight freezer containers for up to two months. Slightly defrost the frozen shake and re-blend it to restore the desired consistency.
