These watermelon cupcakes are perfect for just about anyone’s tastes. These are sweet vanilla cupcakes that are decorated like a watermelon. These cupcakes are extremely easy to make. By using a green cupcake wrapper with pink frosting, the mini chocolate chips look like the seeds of the watermelon.

How to Store Cupcakes

When you make these cupcakes, you want to make sure you store them properly so that they last as long as possible. Cupcakes should be stored at room temperature whenever possible. These cupcakes should be covered well and stored at room temperature unless you use a cream cheese frosting or fresh fruit. Cupcakes taste best whenever they are stored at room temperature. Whenever you use fresh fruit or cream cheese frosting it should be stored in the refrigerator.

How Can I Make These Cupcakes Taste Like Watermelon

If you want the cupcakes to taste like a watermelon you can use a watermelon cake mix or you can use watermelon extract. I have not seen watermelon extract in the grocery store but it available online.

How to Make the Pink Frosting Swirl

When you are making these cupcakes, you want to swirl the pink frosting. Using a piping bag and a start tip, you will want to fill it with pink frosting. Pipe frosting over cupcake in a circular direction working from the inside of the cupcake towards the outer circle and then back into the middle to create a pointed top.

Ingredients

  • 12 cupcakes from your favorite recipe or boxed mix
  • 2 to 3 cups vanilla frosting in bright pink (Used Pillsbury Funfetti Frosting)
  • Mini chocolate chip morsels

More Things You Need:

  • Large open star tip
  • Piping bag
  • Green cupcake liners

Instructions:

Step 1: Add frosting to a piping bag prepared with the open star tip.

Step 2: Pipe frosting over cupcake in a circular direction working from the inside of the cupcake towards the outer circle and then back into the middle to create a pointed top.

Step 3: Decorate with chocolate chips.
