Banana Smoothies are my new favorite way to enjoy bananas…and as little Harper puts it, “They’re bananamazing.”

The other day, I was watching this cool detective show called River with Stellan Skarsgård and Nicola Walker in it. Walker’s character is in love with banana milkshakes and cheeseburgers—”no onion.”
And all of a sudden, I wanted a cold banana drink—not a shake, but something full of banana flavor and icy upon the tongue …. something sweet but nutritious and just powered by bananas … and it suddenly occurred to me. I need a banana smoothie. A really good one. And here it is. My epiphany, which turned out to be an amazingly scrumptious smoothie recipe, I must say.
These only take five minutes to make. They’re easily tweakable to be dairy-free or vegan. For vegans, simply omit the honey and use pure almond milk in lieu of dairy milk. And, in fact, smoothies and milkshakes taste even more delicious than their dairy-containing versions when you use creamy, dreamy Lactaid milk anyway.
And chances are, you have everything to make these already in your spice cabinet, pantry, and refrigerator. Calling for simply bananas, whole milk (or a non-dairy alternative), silky Greek yogurt, and vanilla, plus the optional ingredient of honey, this is a smoothie that your kids will sip down quick. So make a pitcher… or two!!
Why You And Your Family Will Love These Banana Smoothies
The other day, I made these banana smoothies for Harper and Hudson.
Harper said, “These are yummy and banana-licious.” And then we tried to think of other words that would reflect exactly how full of banana flavor these banana smoothies are …. so far we’ve come up with “banana-rific” and “bananamazing” …
And “bananawesome” they truly are. They’re so easy to make, with only four ingredients, and the optional addition of honey, these are in your blender and your tummy before you can say, “That’s bananas.”

FAQs & Tips
How Do I Store Leftovers?
You can freeze these banana smoothies for up to 3 months and simply thaw to reconstitute. Sometimes, adding a wee bit more dairy helps bring them back to sippable, creamy consistency. Also, you can keep them in the refrigerator, in a sealed, airtight pitcher, for up to 2 to 3 days.
Any Delicious Add-Ins?
Oh, yes. I make banana whipped cream for Ms. Harper and the twins. This is so fun, especially for a party! I get polka-dotted yellow straws, a little banana extract, and a little organic yellow food coloring and make these look like one big, festive, banana party in a glass.
Are These Banana Smoothies Gluten-Free?
There are no ingredients here that contain gluten. However, some manufacturers may have cross-contamination of equipment with gluten-containing products. To be on the safe side, especially with gluten and dairy, always use certified, gluten-free Greek yogurt brands like Oikos.
