Hot and spicy chicken wings love this Blue Cheese Dip; you will too! Turn up the heat and cool down your mouth at the same time!

Blue Cheese Dip

Chicken wings without blue cheese dip? Unheard of! It’s kind of like peanut butter and jelly. How can you have one without the other? That peanut butter sandwich would be pretty dry without the jelly. I confess that I have never been a big fan of blue cheese. I think it stems back to a friend who used to put it on everything I made. Anyway…

Back to the topic at hand. As I’ve gotten older, my disdain for blue cheese has lessened. In fact, I cannot think about having chicken wings now without celery dipped in blue cheese dressing. This dip recipe has changed my mind thanks to its creamy, rich flavor. It is the perfect accompaniment to any veggies and, of course, spicy, hot chicken wings.

Sour Cream and Mayonnaise – the Perfect Duo

When I think of my favorite dips, they always have two things in common: sour cream and mayonnaise. So, pairing them with blue cheese would have to be good, right? Definitely right! Unlike many bottled blue cheese dressings you buy at the grocery store, this dip is thick, creamy, and downright delicious.

Whether you are looking for the perfect appetizer to serve at a party, for the big game, or whenever the mood strikes, mix up a batch of this dip, cut up some veggies, and watch the bowl empty before your eyes.

Chilling Time is Crucial When Making Blue Cheese Dip

Unlike that peanut butter and jelly sandwich I mentioned earlier, which you can eat immediately, dips benefit greatly from chilling time to let the flavors settle in and meld. Plan to refrigerate your blue cheese dip for at least one hour before serving. You can use that time to prepare your veggies, chips, or buffalo wings.

How to Make Ahead and Store

This dip is easy to make ahead because it can be kept covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. I think it tastes best on the second day when the flavors have had plenty of time to mix, so feel free to make it the day before serving.

Serving Suggestions

The winning serving suggestion will always be buffalo wings, but you don’t know what you’re missing if you have never had Buffalo Cauliflower Wings. They are so easy but so good, and dipping them in this blue cheese dip will take your taste buds to a whole new place. Another option besides the traditional hot wing recipe is for Sweet and Spicy Grilled Wings. You control the heat level, and the honey and balsamic vinegar provide the sweet!

Put out a tray of your favorite veggie dippers, such as carrots, celery, zucchini, broccoli, cauliflower, and cherry tomatoes, and you have the makings of a perfect time. Of course, as I always say, you need something sweet for dessert. One delicious option is Banana Cream Pie, which is quick and easy to make – no baking necessary.
