These chocolate chip cookie bars are one of the best cookie bar recipes ever. Made in a sheet pan these cookies have all the same flavor of chocolate chip cookies but are easier to make since there is not scooping involved.
Do Cookie Bars Need To Be Refrigerated?
Once these cookies have cooled, you want to move the cookies to a freezer bag or an airtight. The cookies can be stored at room temperature and should last up to a week.
Can Nuts Be Added to These Cookie Bars
The best thing about these cookie bars is that you can add whatever you like. If you like walnuts or pecans in your chocolate chip cookies, you can chop the nuts up and add them to these cookie dough.
Variations to These Cookie Bars
These cookies can be changed up and can have a lot of variations. Some of my favorite variations to chocolate chip cookie bars are:
- Add nuts: Just like nuts in chocolate chip cookies, you can add a cup of chopped nuts to your cookie bars.
- Add Raisins: You can add raisins or cranberries to these cookies instead of chocolate chips. The flavor is fantastic.
- Add peanut butter chips or caramel chips: You can change up the flavor of these cookies by using peanut butter chips, caramel chips or even toffee chips.

- all-purpose flour
- salt
- baking soda
- unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- brown sugar
- granulated sugar
- eggs
- vanilla extract
- chocolate chips (chocolate chunks work great too!)
How to Make Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
Preheat your oven to 325° F.
Heavily grease a 9×13 pan, or line with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter until creamy. Add egg, egg yolk, and vanilla, and whisk until again until well combined. Gently fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just mixed.
Stir in chocolate chips and fold until just combined. Avoid over-mixing.
Transfer the thick dough mixture to your baking pan. Use the back of a spatula or hands to press the dough evenly into the pan.
Bake for about 23-28 minutes, or until the top becomes a light golden brown. For a chewier version, slightly under bake.
Remove pan to a wire cooling rack. Once cooled, cut into squares for serving.
Delicious topped with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 12 tbs unsalted butter melted and cooled
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 large egg yolk only
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups chocolate chips chocolate chunks work great too!
Instructions
