I love trying new educational toys for toddlers with Zach. Zach doesn’t know all of his colors yet, but he’s getting there with the TOMY Mr Color Maker toy. It’s portable enough to take with you wherever you go to keep your toddler entertained, and educational enough to be assured that your child will actually learn something from playing with this toy. Win-win combination for me!
Educational Toys for Toddlers: Mr. Color Maker
The Mr Color Maker allows your toddler to mix primary colors together in a paint pot to create secondary colors. It’s a great way for your toddler to learn their colors. Mr. Color Maker features 50 phrases in English or French (with a simple switch of a button!). I really love the addition of a second language, because it helps to expand your child’s vocabulary while learning another at the same time.
There are 3 modes including free play, where your child can mix colors as they please, directed play, where your child listens to what Mr. Color Maker is asking them to mix and you go from there, and there are also songs your child can sing along too. The colors are mixed through a paint brush, and while there aren’t any real paints involved, it is very colorful! Different colored lights shine depending on what colors your child is mixing. The lights are vibrant and the sound is clear so your child can really understand what is happening.
Zach had a blast with Mr. Color Maker. Like I mentioned, he doesn’t know all of his colors yet but he knows his primary and some of his secondary colors after using Mr. Color Maker. There are a lot of fun ways he interacts with Mr. Color Maker other than mixing the colors together, which I think is cool. For example, if he wants to start another activity or have a “clean slate” to mix new colors, all he has to do is tip the paint pot over to “pour the colors out” and he can start fresh.
Educational toys for toddlers are always cool finds for me because I can really see my little one progress the more he plays with them. The Mr. Color Maker was a perfect one for Zach. WIth the Mr. Color Maker, there is no assembly required, however you do need 4 AA batteries to start using it. The paint pot comes with a paint brush, lid, and 3 primary color paint pots. It’s made of plastic, so if Mr. Color Maker gets dirty at all, just wipe him clean and you’re good to go!
I would recommend it for parents who are trying to teach their child their colors. It really helps!
Mr. Color Maker is available at Target for $39.99!
