No one will feel left out when you make this cool, creamy, and utterly delicious Vegan Milkshake!

Vegan Milkshake

Ice cream shops are everywhere these days, making it easy to get a delicious frosty treat. However, getting non-dairy versions of ice cream, sundaes, and shakes is not always possible. With this recipe for a vegan milkshake as your starting point, you can create wonderful icy treats at home any time you want.

All you need is a blender, some vegan ice cream, and vegan milk. Sugar and vanilla extract are optional, depending on your desired flavor profile. Think of this vegan shake recipe as a blank canvas awaiting your creativity. A dairy-free milkshake does not need to be bland. It can be as flavorful and fun as any dairy-based shake.

Blend Bold, Exciting, And Delicious Milkshake Flavors

Your blender can lead you on a culinary journey through the world of exciting vegan milkshakes. While vanilla ice cream is the base flavor in this recipe, you can opt for any vegan ice cream of your choice. Think of your favorite combinations, such as chocolate “ice cream” with frozen bananas or vegan peanut butter cups blended in. Here are some fun flavor combinations to blend:

  • Strawberry cheesecake ice cream with fresh berries
  • Birthday cake ice cream with sprinkles
  • Mint chip ice cream with chocolate chips and bananas
  • Coffee ice cream with chocolate syrup and cocoa powder
  • Blueberry oat ice cream with blueberries and vegan marshmallow crème
  • Banana ice cream with vegan caramel swirl
  • Peanut butter chocolate ice cream with peanut butter cups
  • Chocolate ice cream with peanut butter and caramel
  • Berry sorbet with fresh or frozen berries
  • Peach or mango sorbet with fresh or frozen peaches or mangoes

What Are The Best Types Of Vegan Ice Cream For Shakes?

Today, the ice cream aisle is full of vegan options. Non-dairy frozen desserts are made from almond, coconut, cashew, oat, and soy milk. In my opinion, one of the best options is an avocado-based frozen dessert. Its rich creaminess makes milkshakes unbelievably indulgent.

You might also find “ice cream” made from lupini beans, macadamia milk, hemp, faba bean, and pea protein. Don’t stop at “ice cream” options; you can also make shakes with vegan sorbet. This list of flavors you can find is as extensive as the types of vegan frozen desserts. Making a delicious milkshake is as easy as picking an intriguing flavor of vegan ice cream from the freezer aisle and mixing it with your favorite dairy-free milk.

How to Make Ahead and Store

Milkshakes are always best when consumed as soon as they are made. They can be refrigerated for up to 30 minutes, but they may not be as thick after that. Try the ice cube method if you need to make it further in advance. Freeze the prepared shake in ice cube trays and move them to zipper freezer bags when frozen solid. Then, when you are ready to serve, pop some frozen shake cubes in the blender with a small amount of plant-based milk and blend.

Serving Suggestions

It doesn’t take much to put a smile on someone’s face when you hand them a milkshake. You don’t need anything more. However, to make it extra special, pull out a platter of Vegan Brownies. You can serve them on the side or blend one into the shake.

A vegan milkshake is the perfect ending to a delicious meal. Some of my favorite options include Lentil Sloppy Joes and Vegan Mac and Cheese. Serve them with a side of Sautéed Asparagus for a complete and delicious meal.
