This Classic Baked Penne Pasta with Ricotta recipe is one that every home cook should have in their recipe repertoire.

Classic Baked Penne Pasta with Ricotta Recipe

It’s a delicious and oh-so simple to make Italian dish that the whole family is sure to enjoy. I’m excited to partner with Barilla® to share this recipe with you.

I love this recipe for a lot of reasons. It comes together quickly, making it perfect for a busy weeknight. It’s also an economical and hearty dish that will feed a large family like mine. It’s wonderful to have as leftovers the next day for lunch, or if you like you can freeze half of the recipe to enjoy later in the month. This pasta recipe is super versatile too. You can easily add to it some veggies or ground beef or sausage.

Classic Baked Penne Pasta with Ricotta Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 (16 ounce) box Barilla® Organic Pasta Penne
  • 1 (32 ounce) jar Barilla® Pasta Sauce
  • 24 ounces ricotta cheese
  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup fresh chopped parsley, divided

Instructions:

Step 1: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add penne and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain and set aside in a large bowl. Add the egg,  ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, 1/4 cup chopped parsley and 2/3 of the sauce. Mix until combined.

Step 2: Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish and spoon in penne mixture. Top with remaining spaghetti sauce, followed by Parmesan cheese.

Step 3: Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes; let stand for 15 minutes and sprinkle with parsley before serving.

YUM.

This classic baked penne pasta recipe takes me right back to my childhood.
