Disclosure: I am being compensated by The Clorox® Company to talk about life’s messy moments as part of the Clorox Ick-tionary.
I am surrounded by silliness. My twelve and fourteen year old nieces are the goofiest kids and serious pranksters. The non-stop shenanigans include games to see who can make the scariest monster face, making up new words, and telling silly stories. So when asked to come up with a new word for the Clorox Ick-tionary, I felt oddly qualified. The Clorox Ick-tionary brings humor to life’s icky situations by capturing the icky every-day and over-the-top situations that everyone can relate to; from circumstances surrounding the unpleasantness of poop and pee to things like applesauce on the ceiling (how?), to the sticky situation you’re in from the accidental “reply to all” mass email (been there, done that).
Are you ready for a laugh?
Here’s my word:
Spilltacular — A spill of such great magnitude, that it’s worthy of special recognition.
These are some of my favorites from the Clorox Ick-tionary:
Leftover Roulette — Deciding what’s in the food container in the back of the fridge, when it’s from and if it’s still good.
Hippocratic Oaf — Person who sends child to school even when they know they are sick.
Ranch Guessing — Figuring out which part of your salad stained your shirt.
Slobby Knobby — The refrigerator handle that is full of grease and other stuff.
I think everyone has terms they’ve made up to describe really gross things in their life, when real words just aren’t enough. Ick happens — and it happens to all of us.
Think you’re the only one who’s been faced with a diaper blow-out, sick child, baby poop art and a backed-up toilet (probably with your smartphone in it) all at once? You are not alone. Clorox has been faithfully helping you clean up these messes with products from toilet bowl cleaners to disinfecting wipes.
Kids like the bizarre and gross, so they will get a real kick out of the Clorox Ick-tionary site. My family has been laughing so much over the oh-so-creative terms. Visit www.icktionary.com and submit your own words you use to describe icky situations in your life. You can also get creative by leaving a comment for each Ick-tionary term, using it in a sentence. People have left some very interesting comments already! While there you can play games and win coupons (while supplies last).

My kids have definitely had some “spilltacular” moments!
I would add another qualification to Leftover Roulette – “is what is growing on what’s in the container in the back of the frig medication or mold?” That’s always a science project away from a winner in my house. Yeah, I am sure I could come up with a few words for that ‘ick’tionary that would stick. Ha.
WE have so many ick-tionary words around our home! Something bizarre and gross is always happening.
Oh, we for sure have some epic spills. The sad thing is when it’s from me, not the kids! 🙂
We have certainly had our fair share of spilltacular messes around here!
