I think you’re going to love this craft for kids. We turned empty dog food containers into sailboats! My two pups, Winston and Fionna, absolutely LOVE Rachael Ray Nutrish Naturally Delish wet dog food. Since they end up eating so much of the Nutrish Naturally Delish, I try to find ways to recycle the plastic tubs. They are great for storing small items like craft and office supplies, and for storing small amounts of leftovers. Or even a fun sailboat craft! This is a sponsored post for Rachael Ray Nutrish. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My dogs have been eating Rachael Ray Nutrish Dog Food for years, and we love it.
Recycled Nutrish dog food containers are perfect for making sailboats and other fun summertime crafts for kids. I try to give throwaway items a new purpose whenever possible, and crafting is a good way to do that.
Sailboat Craft for Kids
Here’s what you’ll need for this sailboat craft:
Nutrish Naturally Delish containers, washed and dried
craft paints
paint brushes
scrapbooking or construction paper
Duct tape
straws
scissors
Directions:
Remove the wrapper from each Naturally Delish container.
Using craft paints, paint the inside of each tub and allow to dry completely. I used acrylic craft paints and foam brushes. Be sure to paint the inside of the tub – not the outside. The girls and I made the mistake of painting the outside of the tubs, and after a few minutes in the water the paint began to bubble. We’ll be sure to paint the other side next time. The tubs are almost clear, so the paint will show through just fine.
On one end of the tub, use a piece of Duct tape to attach a straw to the inside.
To make the sail, cut a triangle shape from the paper. You’ll want to make it about as long as the exposed portion of the straw. Cut two slits in the triangle, large enough to poke the straw through – one near the top and the other near the bottom. Slide the sail onto the straw.
That’s it, you’re done. Happy sailing!
Why do we love Rachael Ray Nutrish Wet Food for Dogs?
Have you ever purchased a dog or cat food and couldn’t tell what the ingredients were just by looking at it? There’s no mystery with Rachael Ray Nutrish Wet Dog Food. Each delicious stew is inspired by recipes from Rachael’s kitchen and made with simple ingredients like tender meat and wholesome veggies. There are real chunks of meat, pieces of veggies and a delicious gravy that you can actually see.
I feed them a combination of both wet food and dry kibble. The wet food because they enjoy it SO MUCH, and the dry kibble because of its convenience. They do like the dry kibble too. Plus, it helps keep their teeth clean. Nutrish wet and dry – a perfect combination.
There’s never any corn, wheat, soy, gluten, meat by-products or fillers and no artificial preservatives or flavors – just essential vitamins and minerals for a nutritious, delicious food your dog will love.
Available in the following recipes: Beef Stroganwoof, Chicken Muttballs with Pasta, Hearty Beef Stew, Savory Lamb Stew, and Chicken Paw Pieâ„¢. Also available: Variety pack including Chicken Paw Pieâ„¢, Hearty Beef Stew & Savory Lamb Stew. Winston and Fionna are particularly nuts about the Chicken Paw Pieâ„¢ and Hearty Beef Stew varieties.
That is the cutest craft idea ever! Awesome way to recycle the containers 🙂
Your pooches are so adorable! I love the cute boat idea, too. That’s the kind of thing that’s so much fun to do with the kids.
