Want to spread a little holiday cheer? Make Your Own Chocolate-Dipped Peppermint Stir Sticks! They’re the perfect edible gift!

Homemade Chocolate Dipped Peppermint Stir Sticks

Ah, the magic of the holidays! Just thinking about all those cozy moments with friends and family is enough to fill me with a good dose of holiday cheer. I have always loved Christmas—everything from making my own edible presents to cooking elaborate multi-course dinners with all kinds of fancy dishes. After all, this is the time of year to really go that extra mile and wow your guests.

That said, I must also admit that all this merrymaking comes with a certain level of expectations. We want the inside and outside of our house to look pretty as a Christmas card, the table to be beautifully set with perfectly polished silver, and the guest rooms to be festively decorated and inviting. It’s no wonder many of us love nothing more than escaping the holiday stress by settling in front of the television to watch a Christmas movie with something warming in hand. For me, that happens to be a frothy cup of hot chocolate.

But what if we could make that cup of cheer even more delicious? That’s exactly what these chocolate-dipped peppermint stir sticks will do! With tips that are coated in milk chocolate and decorated with a swirl of white chocolate and festive sprinkles, these sweet little sticks truly capture the essence of the season. Oh, and even though they’re perfect in hot chocolate, I’ll be the first to admit that they’re quite the treat on their own, too!

Festive variations

Feel free to create a variety of festive peppermint sticks by playing around with this. For example, instead of using peppermint sticks, try using candy canes. Their curved tops are perfect for hanging over the edge of a cup! Instead of milk chocolate, use dark chocolate and coat the sticks with several layers. You’ll want to coat them halfway to the top and ensure that each layer dries before adding the next. When adding the final layer, sprinkle the sticks with mini marshmallows. Now all you need to do is stir a stick into a cup of steaming milk for an instant peppermint hot chocolate! You can also do the same with white chocolate. When decorating the sticks, you can try colored sanding sugar instead of sprinkles.

How do I store leftovers?

Keep the sticks in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. They will stay well for up to 1 week.

Serving suggestions

Why not gift these along with a lovely Hot Cocoa Mix Ornament? If you’re looking for other edible gift ideas this holiday season, try wrapping up a few of our Christmas Oreo Balls in sparkly cellophane with red or green ribbon, or whip up a batch of these cute Christmas Tree Rice Krispies Treats. Children love them!

Yum! This is such a great idea. Love this colder weather. I can have a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy with one of these peppermint stir sticks. Or just a peppermint stir stick on its own 😉 Thanks for post.

I have always wanted to make these, but never knew where to begin! I would love to make some really thick stir sticks and basically make them like peppermint bark stir ins! I love that the options for this kind of thing are virtually endless. The colors and candy coatings can be different and it would be incredibly fun experimenting with them! Thanks for sharing, this is a great holiday recipe!
