They don’t just taste sublime, they feel sublime. Everybody needs the kind of creamy protein infusion that comes from milk, peanut butter, and ice cream …

Peanut Butter Milkshake

Everybody deserves a really delicious treat every now and then. And I know a little girl who loves peanut butter, as she says, “like cwazy.” Her name is Ellie and she loves all things peanut butter from peanut butter on biscuits to peanut butter cake, cookies, candy, and yes, these wonderfully creamy, delicious, and, crunchy milkshake extravaganzas.

I’ve been on a quest to invent the most delicious peanut butter milkshake possible for her, and I think I’ve got it in this milkshake right here. It’s so full of creamy, velvety peanut butter, ice cream, whole milk, and topped with peanuts and whipped cream that she just drank, licked, and munched it right down and said, “MOOORRRRREEEE.”

And, let me tell you, the toppings really add something magic here that kids love, giving them something to chew on while they sip!

Why You and Your Family Will Love Peanut Butter Milkshakes

There’s just something so alluring about the taste of peanut butter mixed with vanilla ice cream. I mean, doesn’t one velvety texture deserve to be paired with another? And peanut butter milkshakes are the bomb. If you haven’t tried one yet, you don’t know what you’re missing. So, let me tell you.

You know that almost creamy, velvety texture of peanut butter, all silken and peanut-y on your tongue? Well, take that silky scrumptiousness and pair it with the creamy dairy deliciousness of cold, whole milk and ice-cold ice cream and you have the kind of peanut butter milkshake nirvana you’ll experience drinking this shake. Peanut butter milkshakes are not only a delicious treat, they’re also full of brain food, like healthy nuts, nut butter, and milk—all filled with those essential nutrients that keep our brains a-humming and our bodies satisfied.

Need to skip breakfast one day? Well, treat yourself on that busy day, to a hunger-beating, filling, brain food in a yummy shake. And you won’t need anything else for hours.

How to Make Ahead and Store

These milkshakes are best enjoyed straight away, but if you need to keep some for later the best way is to keep a pitcher of milkshake in the refrigerator. Here the texture can remain at one, stable temperature. The freezer, well, it’s not so kind to milkshakes. It turns them into hard ice cream that doesn’t reconstitute well into milkshakes. So drink these up. You can keep them at most 2 to 3 days in a pitcher sealed tightly with plastic wrap.

Can You Make This With Lactose-Free Ice Cream?

Yes! In fact, I drink milk like Lactaid just because of its healthy constituents and richer, creamier consistency. Lactose-free milk and ice cream will work just as well as the dairy-based versions in this recipe.

Can You Add Chocolate To Make These A Peanut Butter Chocolate Milkshake?

Of course you can! Just add two tablespoons of chocolate syrup and, possibly, some chocolate chips mixed in with the peanuts on top. Or try this delicious recipe for a Chocolate Banana Peanut Butter Milkshake with or without the bananas!

Serving Suggestions

I love to serve these no matter what the season or occasion. They’re good to round out a light meal and they fill you up when you’re afraid just a sandwich and chips won’t be enough. When I’m cooking for Beth’s three hungry boys, I serve these with a whole tray of Buffalo Chicken Sliders and a big bowl of this Mexican Coleslaw. For dessert, nothing complements a meal like this, replete with peanut butter milkshakes, than these moist, rich, Milk Chocolate Brownies. Dip them right in that milkshake and indulge in the sheer decadence of it all.

If you love peanut butter in everything (and are looking for more recipes to try out) take a look at these Classic Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies, and these Peanut Butter Brownies, which are amazingly delicious.
