What Can I Use Instead of Vodka in The Sauce?

The vodka in the sauce is what really adds that nice and incredible kick to this dish. However, if you decide you want the vodka out and something to substitute, that’s fine. White wine works well and adds a fruity taste to the dish. Beer can also be used, giving the dish a hoppy, malty taste. If you’d prefer to avoid all alcohol, you can use water and lemon juice, tomato juice, or chicken broth.

What Goes with Penne alla Vodka?

Some wonderful choices would be sautéed vegetables in Country Crock® Spread then sprinkled with a touch of Italian seasoning yields a flavorful, wholesome and simple-to-prepare side dish. Or a side salad with homemade house dressing; the freshness of the salad will complement the richness of the pasta sauce. Of course, you can also make some homemade and delicious garlic bread. Breaded zucchini slices are another option, which can be dipped into the pasta sauce.

FAQs

My chicken is dry. How do I keep it moist?

Let it rest (the chicken, I mean). Doing so will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the meat. Also, ensure you are cooking it to 165 F. Last, try cooking it covered. That can help keep in the moisture.

Will this meal get me drunk?

Nope. The alcohol actually evaporates from the heat as the sauce simmers. So you get the taste without the alcohol.

All I taste is vodka. Am I doing something wrong?

If the vodka taste is too strong for you, either cut down on the amount of vodka you’re using or let the sauce simmer longer. Sample it as it cooks until the right taste has been achieved.

How To Store Penne Alla Vodka

Let the penne cool to room temperature then put it in an airtight container. You can keep it in the fridge for 3-4 days. You can also freeze it. Put it in an airtight container THEN put it in a bag. It should keep in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to eat, let it thaw in the fridge overnight or use the ‘defrost’ setting on your microwave. You can either warm it up in a saucepan on the stove at medium heat or bake it at 350 F for 25-30 minutes.
